Purchased to cover a standard-sized hatchet. Not an axe, but a one-handed hatchet. Cover is a stiff, cheap leather that fits a standard hatchet head like a child trying on Dad's suit coat. Cover will easily slip off, cutting up whatever is in your pack, workbench, or yourself. Don't bother.

Does what it should, fits a variety of axes, leather is a reasonable quality, retention strap snaps in firmly and securely.

Perfect for older and smaller Hatchett, just add a snap to shorten the length of the strap.

The leather cover I received was quite dried out and stiff as a board. Luckily I had some leather conditioner left from when I broke in my baseball glove. After a nice bath and massage, the leather went from cardboard to silk. At the same time, the strap was too short originally, but with some careful stretching it fits like a glove. Full grain leather with strong rivets, this sheath should last for years to come. Just needed a little extra work.

I loved the edge on This hatchet when it arrived. The weight was fine. I would like to have a couple more inches on the handle. I put it down to 4 stars because it did not arrive with a sheath. I had to buy a for an extra $20 not cool! However you should be aware all of your pictures on amazon show the hatchet with a sheath but a sheath did not come with it I consider this false advertising please correct the picture. Or send me the sheath in the picture.
