My old switch was failing for quite some time - a few years now - my dashboard lights would just randomly go off, but the next day, they would work again, so I just went with it. Last week, not only did the dashboard lights go out, but my headlights did as well. They came back on, but that was my sign to finally figure out the problem. All indications pointed to this switch, and for less than $20, it was worth a shot - I'm happy to report it works perfectly, and was quite easy to install - I generally shy away from doing car stuff, as I prefer to leave it to the professionals, so if I can do this, anyone can - I just found a YouTube video and was literally done in less than 5 minutes - Just popped the trim off my dashboard, pried the old unit out with a flathead screwdriver, unplugged the harness it plugs into, plugged the new one in, tested it, snapped it in place, and snapped the dashboard trim back on. Can't comment on longevity right now, but if it lasts as long as the original one...it is going to outlive the vehicle.

I ordered this to replace the original headlight switch in our 05 GMC. The replacement looks and feels similar, but not all the lights in the "New" switch work. And that"s the reason for replacing the switch in the first place. The lights have a blueish tint; at least on the ones that do work. And they a little dim too. Gonna send it back for refund. Look for an OEM part if you can and don't waste your time on these inexpensive Chinese knock offs.

After 19+ years, the original headlight switch in my 2005 Silverado started giving me a variety of problems. The dome light cutoff button didn't always work, and the backlight in the switch itself was hit and miss. It worked some days, but most days did not. So I went looking for a replacement, and was a little bit shocked to find the price of new OEM ones. WOW. I considered getting one from a junkyard, but there was no guarantee that their used part was any better than mine. My research tells me that this part fails for everyone. So when I found this one at a reasonable price, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I found it. It looks great and the movement of the button and dials feels great - as good as or better than OEM quality. I have converted all of my dash lights to blue LEDs, so before I ever installed this switch, I took it apart and replaced the included white bulb with a blue LED. That went well. While it was apart, I looked over the internals of the switch. It appears solidly made. Plugging it into my truck and using it for a few weeks, everything is working as it should. So if you're like me and have a beloved GMT800 with a headlight switch that's causing you any issues, get this switch. You'll be glad you did. I sure am!

Ordered this headlight switch because my OEM one decided it didn't want to send the dash dimming info to the computer any more and I had no dash backlighting at times. After installing this headlight switch I noticed the switch does not have the spring setting when you turn it all the way to the left to turn off the headlights. This is not a big deal for me as the DRLs are always on and I don't really turn my headlights off auto anyway.Overall, a very easy to install almost OEM piece of equipment.

(2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71) After this much time the bulbs burn out in these units, the circuits get weak. A problem is the dimmer switch rheostat and the always off push button plunger toggle for the dome lights. When I first bought the vehicle, all of the above was wrong with this unit. So I priced an OEM. WAY too expensive. After, I cleaned with CRC electric parts cleaner, and went on a serious hunt for the bulbs. Even the dealer didn’t know how to get them (bulbs). I found them on an obscure website. But there was no fixing the dome light ‘always off’ plunger switch. A few weeks later the bulbs blew, the dimmer switch became finicky (sometimes cutting all light power to my instrument cluster) and I was right back where I started. So dealer prices out of the question, I went to the junkyard and bought two more of these. Same problems save one was DOA. When I saw product for the offered price, I thought it was too good to be true. Decided to give it a try. It, so far has resolved EVERY problem I had. First time I’ve had a reliable dome light cutoff switch in the vehicle. If it holds up, you just can’t beat it. Perfect fit in the dash, and also the wiring harness … a brighter, more pleasing illumination scheme. For the money it is WELL worth a try. Lot of people out there with this type of switch setup in their GM trucks. See a lot of people trying these for the cost. If it doesn't last, these things are so easy to switch out, you can just go back to your old one.

Very nice replacement switch as could not tell the difference between it and the OEM. Dimmer works flawless, push button for interior works as it should, and the auto/reset switch is nice and firm. It took minutes to replace and the harness snapped right in then done. I give this a solid 5 out of 5 and would gladly buy from again. God Bless, Richard W.
