Enhance Stability with 1.5″ Rebar Chairs

The Hercules 1.5″ Rebar Chair #911 is perfect for floors, sidewalks, driveways and many other concrete applications that require 4″ to 5″ concrete slabs. Designed for #4 rebar, the #911 has 1.5″ clearance from the ground to the bottom bar. Simply snap the rebar into place. No wire tying is necessary. Designed for maximum concrete flow in and around the chair, the #911 is your solution to help you “get the job done right!”

Placement Guide

For 1.5" rebar chairs, we recommend placing a chair at every rebar crossing. simply snap the bottom piece of reinforcement into the bottom clips, then snap the top piece of reinforcement into the top clip, and you are finished. No wire tying needed. Our rebar chairs ensure the reinforcement stays in the right place before, during, and after the concrete pour.

These work for their intended purpose of attaching two pieces of rebar in a straight line, so I can't really give them one star. However they do not save time over using wire ties, as is claimed. In fact wire ties are quicker as long as you use a simple wire tying tool that consists of a wooden handle and a rod to spin the wire ties that have loops on both ends. They do not make a stronger connection, as you rely on the concrete to secure rebar once it is poured, not the ties. Wire ties are cheaper and faster and also secure rebar that passes over other rebar at 90 degrees when making grids, while these do not.Maybe if these incorporated a chair they would be useful. Maybe they would be good for securing rebar for some other purpose where you are not going to pour concrete over them. In that case they provide a stronger connection than wire ties.

I'm doing a concrete project that goes down to the water's edge, and I decided I didn't want any metal in it to eliminate any possibility of future spalling. I'm using plastic zip ties at the crossing intersections, FYI. These connectors perfectly complement the fiberglass rebar I'm using.

These are fairly quick to use and I love that they're made in the US, the problem I have with them is that most often I'm making rebar grids; either in floors or walls and the vast majority of ties I use are to tie rebar as it passes over other bar, these only work for extending bar in a straight line so I'd still have to tie the other connections, also I found I couldn't use these to tie horizontals in a wall cause I tend to tie them to the verts to hold them in place and once you've done that, you can't slip these over the end. I could see these maybe being useful on big jobs where the time saved might add up enough to justify the cost of the connectors; they would definitely make inspecting the connections easy🤷‍♂️.

The Hercules Rebar Splicer is a good idea in theory, as it promises to provide superior strength and quality for securing rebar. However, after trying them out, I found that they are not as easy to use as expected. While the splicers do seem strong and durable, they are a bit more complicated and time-consuming to apply compared to traditional wire ties. For simple projects, the wire ties are much easier and quicker to work with. The rebar splicer might be useful for more specific or heavy-duty tasks, but for general use, I’d prefer the simplicity of the wire ties.Overall, the Hercules Rebar Splicer works as intended but isn’t necessarily the most convenient option for every project.

These holders are more stable than connecting 2 lengths of rebar with just wire. The price is also much better than the local hardware stores.
