These spring latches look well made and with a twist of the knob stay in the open position. I purchased them to replace a cheap latch on a mobility scooter carrier, one easily broke when I tightened it. These are much better made and convenient, as you don’t have to pull both latches while you try to lift the gate.

We used this to prevent our lid from closing while cooking on our griddle. This worked great.
