The hickory is hand picked to assure quality & prevent imperfections and kiln dried to prevent warping. Our Wood Lacrosse Shafts are a quality shaft that will hold up to the punishment the game places on Lacrosse Equipment. The shafts are hex-cut to fit all makes of heads and come with a head mounting screw. We do not put a finish on our products as we feel it is not necessary. In the natural process of using your shaft the oils from your hands will bring out the natural color of the wood and give it a personality of it's own. However, if you want to finish your shaft with paint, stain, varnish or polyurethane it will not affect the warranty. End caps work work great with these shafts.

As other reviewers have said...nice, quality piece of wood and at great price. Only knock is that it needs to be sanded a little more to prevent splinters

Solid, with the grain pattern in the direction I like. Fit my stx head perfectly. I did work some linseed oil into it before first use, and then scrubbed it down with blue brilliant pad. Only because I wasn't going to be wearing gloves. It's a backyard spoon.

I love wooden lax stick shafts and this thing is so cool and you cannot beat this price. I would buy again and likely will if it ever breaks

I bought two shafts. The quality and weight are amazing. The only down fall is that I put an ECD DNA head on, and I cannot remove it without damaging the stick and/or the head.

I always played D but bought this to set up a shorty for passing around with friends after years away from the sport. I couldn't be more pleased. Where I grew up, wood shafts were unobtanium and we used to watch videos of indigenous players in the Midwest dominating with them and I always wanted one. What I got was a solid high quality, clear grain piece of wood. Being a wood product, I'm sure there is variance, but mine came just like a good axe handle with grain running front to back, the carpenter in me appreciated this detail. I can't speak to how it holds up to checks, but for me it's a backyard stick anyway and it's wood, it's gonna get dinged up. That's part of the deal. Highly recommend. I will probably be buying another in the future.

5/5 perfect experience with this lacrosse shaft- it shipped quickly- it was packaged well- it’s a great piece of wood that burned well (for the designs I burnt in it for fun)- it stained well- I slapped some poly on it, too, because that seemed prudent- the lacrosse head fit snugly, so the size is also perfect- I have zero complaints.Absolutely would recommend and would buy again. And for the price? Can’t be beat.I will say, as a warning to others, be careful what lacrosse head you order, because obviously the wood shaft is solid, and some heads (like the one I bought) had a sort of inner tube that’s meant to go inside a hollow aluminum shaft, and I had to spend some quality time with a dremel tool cutting that tube out. Such things weren’t a concern back when I was playing in school and the like, so I never even thought about such an issue coming up.But in regards to this lacrosse stick? Perfect, love it, thanks to Burd Lax for making it!

It is so cheap for you guys to sand these properly and put some sort of coating, but you didnt. I got a splinter in my first few minutes of unpacking it. Go through someone else guys

good old school lax stick for the price its very good , and the company is a quality provider of lax sticks 10 out of 10 will buy again ships quick and fit in head with zero adjustments neededmy son and his friends use it more than i get to got it to take shots on my son who is a goalie and the new sticks i find have just to much whip and are to light for me
