This is a cost effective card for adding RAID capabilities to almost any system.Pros:Super easy to setupMultiple RAID modes supportedWorks with pretty much any SATA drive availableCons:Drivers can be a pain to find on the websiteSpecial Notes:If you are using a consumer grade computer, this RAID card may not work. I recently tried installing it in a XPS 8940 and windows could not see the card. I tried the different RAID BIOS firmwares by installing the card in another computer (Precision T1700) and flashing it. Eventually I could get the XPS BIOS to see the card but it would still not show up as an available device in Windows.

Purchased this card to replace 2 eSATA cards that did not offer driver support in Windows10.Pros: Effective for providing eSATA support for removable drives and for multiple-drive enclosures and docking stations, which is what I needed.Cons:1. Booting of PC now includes 30 seconds of staring at a legacy screen where BIOS looks for RAID discs, which will never be there if this card was purchased for removable drives. This 30-second handshaking period is a "feature" and cannot be adjusted or removed by the card's driver.2. Removal of drives in enclosures or docking stations cannot be performed using Windows' "Remove Devices" dialog. High Point instead provides a browser-based interface driven by a local service for this and other configuration functions (including turning off the card's beeper when a drive is removed or changing the password to the web page's login)Best Use:After a year's use, I gladly removed the card from my PC and put it into my file server, where the described "features" are more reasonable than for my desktop PC. On my PC, I replaced my eSATA-interface docking station and multiple-drive enclosures with USB-3 interface-capable ones (Many of these had both of these interfaces already and only required re-cabling and plugging into a different port on the PC). USB-3 performed all multiplexing and removeability requirements without the penalties of the current generation of eSATA cards' implementation.

Purchased to provide a PCI SATA expansion of 2 extra JBOD ports. Perfect - able to boot from these ports (SATA HDD and DVD fitted) - from a Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H Mobo. This freed up the M2 port so able to develop machine - happy days!Boot process is a bit more contorted initially as it restarts a couple of times when it finds the card, but both the HDD and DVD appear in the GB BIOS boot menu. The card itself is exceptionally well made - the ports accept cables with socket clips which latch into the card. Well packaged with instruction booklet and SATA cables, but no micro DVD with drivers; but they were not required.RAID Bios can be downloaded from the Highpoint web site if needed. This version of the 620 was the RA suffix - not shown on the description - it has no pinned headers or buzzer which are shown on the photos in top corner of PCB directly above SATA connectors . They don't affect my use so not affected. Overall -a great card which does precisely what I wanted it to do so 10/10 and 5*

: Short version : Quick install, fast card, great product.: Other Version : Installing this card was as painless as it gets. It's small and includes 4 SATA cables. After installing the card and powering up I installed the driver disc and rebooted. The config screen was easy to walk through. I set up my 4 3TB drives as RAID 5, saved and rebooted. The new drive was recognized by Win 7. After formatting I was ready to go.I had my original 4 drive SW RAID still attached to the motherboard (ASUS Ramgage Gene IV) with the new drives attached to RocketRaid. I started copying close to 5.5TB of data from old to new. I watched peaks over 130/mb but it ran steady between 40-70 /mb. In all it took about 28 hours to move all the data (with some delays in interaction by me rearranging some things on the new drives).Once the data transfer was complete, I detatched the old drives, installed the new ones in the case and closed it up. When I rebooted, all things we right where they should be (except for a small issue of drive letters). I didn't do a benchmark but it did seem these drives ran faster than the previous set (all drives were SATA III 3TB drives). This was especially noticable when writing data to the drives and copying data from other networked computers. HW RAID vs. SW RAID might have something to do with this impression too.Cons:None that I have found. Maybe that I paid for overnight shipping but didn't get it overnight. No reflection on the product in any case.In summary, this is a very good card, at a very good price and it just plain does what it says.

I already had one of these and it worked flawlessly in two different Intel-based computers. So when a friend of mine wanted his own RAID array, I got this for him too. However, his computer is AMD-based, and it wouldn't work. The issue was his motherboard already had a RAID controller and he was using it to mirror his C: drive. But when I booted with the 622 card inserted and the RAID enclosure connected, the 622 would walk the disks in the RAID enclosure, but the internal RAID controller never initialized. So it couldn't boot because it couldn't see the mirrored C: drive.Looking at the web, I saw this was probably an INT13 problem, and the way to fix it was to get a firmware update from HighPoint support. Unfortunately, HighPoint doesn't put their firmware update on the web for download, so you have to contact them. This was more difficult than you would have thought.I first tried emailing them using the support email address they had in the printed documentation that came with the card. There was no response. After several days, I sent a follow up email, but that fell on deaf ears too.So then I called the support number also listed in the documentation. No one ever picked up this number, and it always went to voice mail. The OGM said "leave a message and we'll get back to you in 24 hours", but I never received a return call. This went on for 2 weeks. Then I called the main number to complain, and only then could I speak to a real person. I was told that HighPoint no longer provided any other method of support except web support. Once I did this, HighPoint eventually got back to me with a download link for the firmware update as well as instructions. The instructions, however, were missing some steps, so it took another couple of go-rounds until I actually got this thing working. But working it is now. It's even faster than it was before the firmware upgrade - I now see about 100mB/s on writes, where before it was closer to 60mB/s.On final note. In the process of getting this to work, I found that during the boot, you can press the END key on the keyboard when the 622 is initializing. This will bypass the 622's BIOS initialization and proceed with the rest of the boot. When Windows starts, the Windows driver initializes the card again anyway, so it works just fine in Windows even if it doesn't initialize in BIOS. This is how I was able to use the RAID array before I got the firmware update from HighPoint.
