I love how they oiled up and how they look. I would easily give 5 stars except for 1 thing. The prong on the buckle isn't rounded at all. It has a very sharp square edge that sticks out. This could potentially cause a reaction in a sensitive horse similar to poking them with a flat tipped nail. I rubbed it gently against my daughters horse and she had a pretty significant jolt away from it. Considering your leg is against their sides and the buckle also against their sides this could be a problem and cause a wreck due to a horse over reacting to it trying to get away from the poke. A more rounded over edge and tip of the prong should be used on these and bend the tip slightly so it lays flatter when buckled. I compared it to several other saddle stirrup keepers and those are much less harsh when rubbing your finger over them buckled due to a rounded edge and laying more flat which makes it less prominent as well. They also tend to have a bent tip on the prong or indent on the buckle that keeps the prong laying flatter to the buckle vs sticking out. A different buckle would make these perfect! I will file the tip so it's rounded on the edge and tip vs angular and that should make them safer for my daughter to use. Her horse is quite sensitive to feel and I don't want her to over react. It would feel much like a pinch vs dull pressure if they make contact with her side while riding as they currently are.
