A Cage Nut consists of a square nut in a spring steel cage which wraps around the nut. The cage has two wings that, when compressed, allow the cage to be inserted into the square holes in equipment racks. When the wings are released they hold the nut in position behind the hole. This makes cage nuts easily replaceable.

"Box of 12" arrived in Amazon packaging, OEM box was intact and closed, but only contained 7 cage nuts (refer to photo). No loose nuts in packaging. I'd ask for 5/12 of my money back but I don't see a button to send seller feedback and my time is more valuable than the loss at this point.
