With the recent hurricanes, this tool made hurricane shutters installation and removal faster and the wing nuts tighter than by hand.

I was hoping to use this for eyebolts. But the slot is far to thin for anything larger than a wing nut. I suspect even a large wing nut wouldn’t fit.

I got tired of constantly twisting the 4 wing nuts off and back on again on my Hayward pool filter canister every time I need to clean my pool filter. I saw my cordless impact driver in the garage one day and got an idea and looked here. It took a while to find the right search parameter but I finally found several of these that would fit both the wing and thread depth showing on the top of the tightened wingnut. The first time I used it it took about 12 seconds to get the wingnuts off and another 10 to get them back on, nice and tight! I love it! I'll have to get a second one in case I lose this one and keep it somewhere safe. Definitely a labor and time saver.

I bought this hoping to be able to use this for actual eye-bolts that typically would require a method other than hands to screw into wood, however this is quite small and only could be used for smaller eye bolts. I know this says for wing-nuts however even if used for that purpose they would have to be smaller again in size just to fit in the cut-out opening of this bit. Frankly I feel this is an unnecessary bit as it can only handle small sizes that could very easily be turned by hand anyways. I wanted something that would eliminate me having to use a screwdriver through the "eyelet" or a pair of pliers while screwing it in. Oh well, I will go back to using an old socket that I took a grinder too and cut a large enough slot cross-ways to actually be useful.

My parents bought a hurricane window covering solution that uses wing nuts screwed onto threaded posts that stay embedded in the wood around the windows. While testing one at the beginning of the summer, it was rapidly apparent that screwing all of the wing nuts on by hand was going to be a nightmare, and certainly not something you would want to do under time pressure. A quick search on amazon found this little adapter that was made exactly for this situation. It attached to my drill like any other drill bit and fit comfortably over a wing nut. A quick test showed that with a reversible drill these can now be installed and removed quickly and with much less stress.

If you need to install a bunch of wing nuts, for your storm shutters or anything else, buy this. Thank me later. In fact you better buy a few. Not because they break, they last forever. The reason you need to buy several is that if you lend it out, you will not get it back. And if your neighbor sees you using it, they will ask to borrow it.

Exactly what I was looking for!Living in hurricane country, it is important to have the right tools on hand when you need them. Many years ago my family installed hurricane shutters. They install and uninstall very easily - using wing-nuts. However, it is impossible to tighten and loosen hundreds of them by hand efficiently. A friend told me about this tool, and how you just pop it into a cordless electric screwdriver, and it does the job quickly - and without wear and tear on the fingers! I have looked for one in local hardware and home improvement stores, but they never seemed to be available.I finally decided that amazon would have the answer, and found exactly what I was looking for! While I hope I never need to use it, I know that if I need it, that I will be able to get the shutters installed without concern about spraining my thumbs or using awkward pliers or makeshift tools.
