When I first got this belt, I wasn't sure what to make of it because using it effectively, for me, meant a weight that would not easily be moved into position, or so I thought. The problem lay in the particular version of the hip trust I had in mind. This is meant for the kind of hip thrusts you do with your shoulders on the floor! It can certainly be used to do hip thrusts with your shoulders on a bench, however, for that, have two other people working out with you so that there is ALWAYS two people lifting the belt with the weight onto your hips. It has to be said that when compared to hip thrusts using a barbell, this belt is comfortable enough to make the aforementioned effort worthwhile. However, with shoulders on the floor or for doing planks, this belt is exceptional.A relatively small weight can be quite effective when your shoulders are on the ground, it will just be acting on slightly different places. Having said that, the volume of repetitions can be prodigious indeed because the glutes are used constantly and have quite the capacity for endurance. This is also why it takes so long and, often, so much weight to develop them effectively. People often conflate the idea of fatigue resistance with the idea of weakness and the two, certainly when it comes to muscle fibers, do not have to go together. The speed of contraction at the level of the cell, yes, that does go together with slow vs. Fast twitch fibers and, to a degree, the speed of the movement. However, anyone that has seen marathon runners or long distance cyclist in the course of participating in their sport knows that doesn't mean that they move slowly.I am not saying that this belt could be a substitute for a pillow, it cannot, however, the weight distribution is far more comfortable than what happens with a barbell across your hips, squat pad or not. This belt is built to last and, when you hear the velcro rip you will know this is true, built with first quality materials. This belt also works for adding weight to walking lunges without having to carry the weight or for adding weight beyond what a person can carry in their hands. When tightened in the right place, over the upper part of the hips, it is murderous for planking!!! Precisely because it is loading the plank where people tend to either lift up inappropriately or collapse downward. This belt turns a minute plank into a fifteen second plank that you can do ten times! This is certainly a superior way to carry 45 lbs to do dips because it does not carry the PARTICULAR KIND OF RISK that a dangling 45 lbs plate carries for a male. Besides, it isn't like men shouldn't practice hip thrusts to build strength and power on those thrusts! So Ladies, if your guy keeps borrowing yours, get him his own Carbon King Hip Thrust Belt! Versatile, built to last, and a gym tool that is bound to get a great deal of use by any couple, what's not to like?

Straps don’t stay in place at all. A waste of my money.

Kind of an awkward design, but I like that it doesn't rely on you balancing the dumbbells.
