What does a fuel injection pressure regulator do?

The fuel pressure regulator helps maintain the fuel pressure in the Electronic Fuel Injection System.

If the fuel system needs more fuel pressure, the fuel pressure regulator allows more fuel to go to the engine. This is important because that is how the fuel gets to the injectors

Symptoms Of A Bad Fuel Regulator

  • Black smoke coming from the exhaust
  • Blackened spark plugs
  • Engine won’t crank
  • Excessive fuel pump noise
  • Engine misfires/poor acceleration
  • Fuel starts leaking
  • Gasoline in the vacuum hose
  • Reduced fuel mileage

where is the fuel pressure regulator located?

The fuel injection pressure regulator is located at the end of the fuel rail and connects to the injectors of the vehicle. In order to locate the fuel pressure regulator, you must find and follow the fuel rail in your engine first and you can find it at the end before the fuel gets into the engine.

I’m hesitant to write this review because of what I’ve read about this part failing after a short amount of time/milage.I’m probably about 500 miles into this new pressure regulator and it still seems to be working just fine.I have much better throttle response time as opposed to my original busted one. My truck cranks right up without any issues.Installation took less than 10 minutes. It would have been quicker if I didn’t need to fish out the old o-ring from the bad regulator.Just make sure to depressurize your fuel system before trying to replace it. I thought I had done a good job at it but it still spit a little gas at me.Other than that, this part works like a dream. I’m glad I purchased it.I haven’t had any of the noise that some reviewers state but maybe that’s because I don’t have active fuel management like some newer vehicles? I don’t know. But mine works great. I recommend it.

Part fixed a hard starting issue on our 1999 GMC Sierra. The truck starts quickly now, wither the engine is cold or warm. Took about 20 minutes to remove old and install new part.

I've got a John Deere riding lawn mower that stopped working. We use that thing a lot so when it went down, it was definitely a problem. At the farm, we don't have a bunch of money to spend so I try to find deals when I can. After seeing what they charge at Johne Deere, I went to Amazon to find a better deal. They didn't let me down. It was way cheaper having Amazon send it to my front door! The part itself is made of quality materials. Its just like the one I took off. It fit perfectly in its place and she started right up as soon as it was all back together with tubes and all attached. It's back to work as usual again. 🙂
