Function and principle of oil pressure sensor switch

The function of the oil switch:

Multiple systems in automobiles are designed to maintain normal engine oil level and pressure. The oil pressure sensor is directly connected to the oil pressure gauge. When a lower than normal oil pressure is detected, the oil pressure gauge will reflect this change. The oil pressure warning light is usually accompanied by a failure of the oil pressure sensor.

Principle of oil sensor:

1. Oil pressure from the main oil gallery.

2. The oil pressure switch senses oil pressure.

3. Information passes through the warning light.

4. The final contact link to the ignition switch.

This sensor makes my fuel pump stay on full time. I had to disconnect it.Rip off!

My oil pressure gauge worked normally when cold but once engine was warm oil pressure wouldn’t go past 40 psi even at high rpm.Replaced with this sensor and now I have 50-55psi oil pressure when at 210 operating temp and 5k rpm.This screwed in the port and no oil leak on back of engine.

The old one in my truck decided to out on me, so I ordered this one and installed it. No frills, does just what it needs to and my oil pressure gauge is back to reading (mostly) correctly. I say mostly because the older a car gets, the more likely it is that you'll have some variance in the gauges and actual value. We'll call it, puts it in the ballpark at least. Way better than the old one that I pulled out.
