Dc 7 seems like a nice regulator, it has some issues though, there was a quality control issue with the first run of them. They were missing an O-ring on the high pressure side of the reg, causing the second stage to free flow, and also the dc7 cannot be converted from yoke to din. Nor will Hollis ever make a conversion kit as the regulator parts that the first stage are 45% of the reg, that make up the yoke portion. So you can only buy a adaptor from din to yoke if you want to use both yoke and din on the dc7.

500SE:An interesting take on the classic side-exhaust second stage. It's worth noting that this regulator shares internal components with the Oceanic Omega 3, which has the added benefit of a predive switch. If you're willing to shell out a bit more it might be worth checking that out instead.Pros:- Consistent, easy breathing at any depth- Comfortable mouthpiece reduces jaw fatigue- Unique lookCons:- Downstream diaphragm means the regulator is very prone to freeflow unless care is taken to submerge the mouthpiece first- No predive switch- Touchy purge buttonDC7:Not much to say about it, seems like a solid first stage with enough ports for any recreational configuration.

Having only taken two dives with this so far in the cold PNW water. I just need to say I love this thing! Very comfortable in the mouth, and since I'm a relatively new diver and spend a lot of time just working on my buoyancy, I really notice -- or should I saw I don't notice -- the side exhaust. On my first dive with this regulator I actually had to remind myself there should be bubbles and had to search for them, a very great feeling.
