I serves it intended purpose. this spring is a fix suggested by honda for a problem with the lawn mower.

I was told to only buy OEM Honda replacement parts, that is spring would cure surging issues. It does not. My Honda mower still has PMS with RPMs, even after replacing the carb.

Having "Googled" the Honda lawnmower trouble I was experiencing. It would run great but too fast for 15 seconds maybe , and the stall. Everyone seemed to have a different fix, each complicated, until I stumbled on to one that caught my eye when closing the tab. The guy basically said to forget about all the various fixes on line. All one needs to do is replace the governer spring to this part number after 50 hours of operation. Explains it is not in the owners manual but is in the servicemanul. I bought it and it works great. For now anyway. Amazing it made that much difference.

This governor spring came in a Honda OEM bag that was contained in the delivery box or bag. The install was easy and I have closed the loops tightly to avoid them from snagging when mowing next to shrubbery. I used needle-nose pliers for the task. The engine runs at a comfortable rpm with this spring. When I get a chance I will obtain an tachometer and run time clock to aid my effort to extend the life of this mower which has become my all time favorite now. I bought this self-propelled walk behind model in April of 2012 and I have had to replace the pull start rope once. And this mower always starts on the first pull. No other engine I have owned ever has performed like my Honda mower.
