This fit perfectly (as it should), but Honda obviously switched to a lower quality plastic than what was used in the original cap that came with my mower (20+ years ago). I’m on my second replacement cap in just 5 months! I suspect the first replacement cap failed because I over tightened it. The center of the cap separated, rendering it useless. So don’t over tighten it! :)

I wasn’t hard on the cap at all and the mower was stored in garage 90% of the time. The cap separated in the middle. The very top plastic pushed through itself.

It is a perfect fit for my troybilt mower with a Honda GCV 160 engine. The original cap incorporated a huge charcoal canister (for smog) which used to catch on everything and eventually broke. This one is great.

Smaller than the original but worked well. I was having an issue with my mower running a couple minutes and shutting down most recommended changing the cap, I did and it helped but the spark plug needed to be changed as well.

The overall size of this cap was much smaller than the one installed on my Honda GCV160. The original cap vent became plugged over time. As a result, the engine would only run for 2-3 minutes before stalling. I ordered this cap as a replacement, and though it was much smaller, it fits. When installed, the engine no longer stalls out. Yay, it works. Let me add that this cap is easier to remove from the tank than the original was.Update almost 1 year to date the cap broke around the top. The mower is stored in the garage. I can only guess that I may have snugged it up too much. Friends, do not tighten the cap but just smug it up.

My lawnmower was driving me crazy, after I replaced just about everything else and it still had starting problems, my GCV 160 Honda motor had replaced spark plug, carburetor, fuel filter, air filter, Oil change, and it still would not start with any regularity especially after it got hot, someone suggested the fuel cap vent and another person suggested the coil so I replaced them both and she’s running like new again I think it was a combination of both to be honest, because when I loosened the Cap, It started because it was getting air but then when it got hot it would not restart, so I change the coil and cap, after running for three minutes she restarted like she used to when she was new, great and easy fix, for less than 40 bucks. Use a business card for gap on the coil.
