We were unsure if this would work for our needs, but decided to go out on a limb because it was really the only option we could find. We needed a vertical thermostat that would fit over our existing electrical box and needed something programmable that would work on a millivolt system. We switched from a non programmable thermostat to this. I didn't like how the fireplace just ran all night long even though everyone was asleep and no one was using the space. Wasting gas and money. This works for our needs. It only serves to turn on and off our gas fireplace.

Easy installation; great value for the money. After installation, it wouldn't turn on the heater because I had it set for a hot air blower system, whereas my unit is a boiler type. Just make sure to follow the installation instructions carefully to set the unit for the type of heating system installed.

So our old Honeywell thermostat broke after many years of solid performance. This replacement, the vertical type, is the same size and has the same programmable features, and it now illuminates when you make heat adjustments - easier to see.It was easy to install, 30 minutes tops. Shut off the electric, took note of the wiring on the old one, rewired the replacement the same. Made sure it was screwed into the wall securely - exact same location as old one - same exact size. Turned on electric. It worked great, and has worked great the past month.Very pleased, product is excellent quality and I saved a lot installing this myself.

This is the second one I purchased. I tried a cheaper brand/model and was so disappointed, I discarded it and ordered a second one of these and I am smiling again. I appreciated even more the ability to do all the programming from my arm chair and once completed snap it onto the mounting bracket. I increased my rating to 5 stars from 4; Here is my review of the first unit: We were looking for a programmable millivolt compatible thermostat. This one is pretty good. I got a bit worried when I went to change the unit of measure to °C and it was not in the first set of instructions and not on the box either... but it was in the advanced settings. It worked fine when the installer tested the fireplace. It's a 5-2 programmable model so it does have limitations and does not have WiFi connectivity but still pretty good.

I used this to regulate a natural gas fireplace. Just on and off at programmable time of day.The installation instruction just uses wire colors to show where to connect and of course they didn't match mine. It didn't show which terminals are the ON-OFF contact. I had to use a multimeter to determine that.The instruction for setting did not mention the WAKE; LEAVE; RETURN; SLEEP functions. Took awhile to get that straight. The words in the display are too small. On the good side, this is the only thermostat that was a direct fit to the 4 inch utility box that my old thermostat had been mounted on.

I have three of these in my house, but one of the older ones died so I bought this one. I really like the new backlight and it's great having the programming for weekdays and weekends. The programming is easy and simple but lets you do really cool things. This one controls my central gas furnace and the others control my electric heat, so I can balance how much gas vs electricity I use by programming one to have a lower turn-on temperature than the others, or, for example, starting the gas furnace earlier to help me wake up and take the brunt of the heating chores from the electric heat. I love this unit!

I didn't have to change the base unit on the wall......I just installed the front section of the thermostat and we were up and running. Installation took about 10 seconds......WORKS GREAT. THANK YOU FOR THE FAST DELIVERY.
