I initially bought this to clean Hornady reloading dies as recommended by Hornady. Worked well for that. Also worked well on a Ruger stainless revolver, particularly in the trigger guard assembly. I used up my first bottle fairly quickly. From now on I will try to use it more sparingly including spaying it onto a cleaning patch or RamRodz instead of directly on the part.

I started shooting at 16 and I’m fifty three now so I’ve cleaned a lot of firearms and tried a lot of different products on the market. I was in a bind and hurry one day and just grabbed this off the shelf of my local gun shop thinking let’s add another can to the shelf of “only use when out of hoops9”. I went out to shoot my black powder and realized I never cleaned it from the following year, the panic set in! I went home and saw this remembering it’s an aerosol so easier to spray down everything with a good coating, first no smell, I mean no smell at all! Second I brushed my barrel twice and took a look to see what I was in for, I saw mirror looking back at me! That’s it, all I can say it try it, you will never go back to anything else after.

Too expensive

It's a little pricey, but it cleans well. Purchased specifically to use on a Mossberg 930 gas block as recommended by jerry miculek. The gas system tends to gum up easily with wet lubricants. I haven't had to chance to go shooting with it yet but it worked well to clean all the carbon out of the gas seals and piston assembly. With wet lubricants, I normally get about 400rds out of the gun before cycling issues. Hoping to push 600rds with this stuff.

This is my go-to for cleaning. Dry lube works fantastic. I have a bottle in my range bag at all times. Perfect for shotgun, rifles, reloaders, etc. After about 100 shells on the trap/skeet range when the chamber action starts to gum up a little bit, a quick spray keeps things moving for the rest of the day. It's expensive and there are competing products probably just as good (also not cheap, mind you), but I do reward products that really work well. And this really works well.

I have used this for over 30 years on a regular basis. It is an awesome light cleaner and final lube on inside parts and the exterior finish of guns. My process after shooting a Glock as an example: 1) disassemble and clean barrels (or revolver cylinder) with Hoppes or Gun Scrubber and brush, 2) spray all other parts with OneShot, 3) use a little Hoppes and brush on the breach face if necessary, 4) toothbrush everything else with OneShot, 5) do a final spray of everything including barrel interior with OneShot nad let dry, 6) apply a couple of drops of oil where suggested the by manufacturer (Glocks work better with less oil), 7) reassemble and wipe the exterior with a patch or rag sprayed lightly with OneShot . . . done. Obviously different weapons like an AR require different procedures, the Glock is just an example. I'm a Glock/Remington/Bushmaster armorer and have never had an issue with gun rust with this product when applied correctly. The includes car trunks.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I had read some reviews on this product along side others and everything I read implied this was 'Different'.It seems to me that it could still collect dust and grit but likely not the same way as a grease or a thick oil. It will definitely transfer to your hands after drying (which only takes about 15 seconds). I mitigated this by lightly wiping down excess with a clean microfiber as I would with any other spray on product. For those of you who understand chemistry: This product is NOT a silicone based dry lube (a bit of a misnomer). It is a proprietary blend of 11 herbs and spices which are all nontoxic. The ingredients create what is called a series of boundary layers (3) which are designed to carry loads (lubrication), protect against corrosion and tarnish, protect against chemical contamination. The ingredients are carried in n-Hexane and propelled by naptha/butane/propane. This means the product dries extremely quickly with the caveat of being extremely flammable while wet. DO NOT spray this on a hot gun. The carrier products are rather offensive to people who are sensitive to chemical smells but once the carrier products have 'flashed off' the remaining residue (boundary layers) are odorless. After researching for days about which product would provide the absolute best corrosion protection I found myself torn between this and 'Frog-lube'. I decided to go with this product because if the brand name. Hornady has been around for a long time and is regarded as a trustworthy brand.

Today I cleaned a brand new G17 (after 200 rounds) with One Shot. I have to say, this stuff works great. I cleaned pretty much all parts with it, using cotton patches and an old Sonicare brush - picked up a lot of grime, and removed factory applied lubricants in the process that turned dirty. Barrel was a little tough, there were a couple of stubborn "dark" spots that plastic rod with patches failed to remove -- only the brass/bronze brush got them off. At the end, the metal parts looked and felt great, slick and looking "wet" without actually being oily. The gun is clean as a whistle now, and I believe it will be easier to keep clean from now on, because grime won't stick to greasy parts anymore. Recommended. Oh, and it works great for shavers and squeaky doors!P.S. Here is a comparison of 46 products where Hornady One Shot came out in top 2 (with Frog Lube) [...]
