This is a low speed crawler gearbox for LCG rigs but their are major problems. The Good: Construction quality seems quite good with it's aluminum case. Bolt pattern is std. scx10.2 and weight is 117 grams. All metal gears with bearings throughout. The height and weight combo should definitely help you're overall weight and side hilling ability. This is tough to beat at this price point. The bad: At low motor rpm it's noisy but works fine. At High rpm (I have a 1400kv motor) the noise is astounding and the case halves feel as if they are trying to split apart. I held it in my hand and actually felt the case seeming expand and contract. For fear of breaking something I didn't run my motor above half way.The Ok: It's 48p and meshes fine with my 11t pinion so no issues there. This combo yields less than walking pace. This was fine for my purposes since I needed to maintain a minimum rotation speed with my outboard brushless motor to keep from cogging at low speed. The bolt pattern is on the wrong side so you either end up with your motor to the rear or on the left side instead of right like the std 10.2 transmission. Something to think about if you're using axles with offset diffs. I went back to a scx10.2 transmission ($20 injora). I shaved the bottom to lower it, removed the dust cover on the spur/pinion gears, shaved off the half circle plastic behind the spur gear removed the slipper clutch and modified the pieces to eliminate the slipper. I also went down to an 8t 32p pinion and a 60t 32p (max size that will fit) spur. After all was said and done I had a low LCG transmission that weighted a little less than 119g with a nice slow, but faster than the HR trans, crawl speed.A quick summary: Don't buy this HR transmission. I waited awhile for it to be back in stock and I'm extremely disappointed.

I have loved this thing since i put it on the truck. At first i was concerned that the gear which is turned by the pinion gear on the motor was too thin. I though maybe the teeth you bend under a heavy load as it looks to be only a 1 millimeter thick maybe less. I ran a brushless small light airplane motor something like 3000kv with a steel spur gear. With redcat portal axles this transmission, castle v3, and 3s lipo truck ran about 10mph, 2 minutes crawling and the steel spur on the motor lost about 5 teeth and there was no damage to the transmission gears. I went back to a 17 turn brushed motor, truck only runs about 3mph but it is a 5 pound crawling machine. The lower cg really seems to add a ton of performance features. Can side hill nearly 50 degrees, can vertical climb 55 degrees or more. Using high clearance links, and portal axles. Truck weighs 5 pounds. This product is competition quality.

Bought this for a low CG build and I'm not sure what you would need a gear reduction this low for. It is impossible to achieve any wheel speed whatsoever. I have the largest pinion I can possibly fit and would still get passed by a snail if it could stop laughing at how slow this is for long enough.

Very useful for scale use and or straight up use of it for low gearing style rigs to crawle instead of going fast ....

Complete garbage impossible to set the gear mesh properly only takes a few minutes of run time to destroy a pinion gear. Pass on this thing and just put steel gears in your stock transmission.
