The added spring is there to automatically adjusts the clamp diameter to compensate for the expansion and contraction of hose when temperatures or the pressure fluctuate. HPS spring loaded clamps are reusable. Design to meet or exceed industrial grade specification. The clamps has a floating bridge and rolled edges to protect soft hose. The lock nut has a nylon insert to prevent it from backing out. Tighten with a 7/16 inch socket wrench. The HPS constant tension t bolt clamps are widely used in the charge air cooler system (cac), aircraft, automotive, truck and heavy-duty vehicle, industrial, hardware/plumbing, and marine industries. Had to replace a factory clamp on my intercooler piping. I’ve used HPS products in the past and have been impressed. This product met my expectations.

This is a nice heavy duty clamp that was perfect for the need I had. The previous worm-drive clamp for my application was unable to clamp securely however this clamp provided more force across a larger band and worked well. Maybe a bit overpriced but worth it in the end for me.

Good quality clamp, holes the intercooler boot great holding 50psi on my 12 valve Cummins. I ordered two of these. One was correct and the second one was far to large. Must’ve been a mess up in shipping, but overall is a great quality clamp

Looks well made but just the band is stainless steel, bolt, spring, and nut are coated steel. high price but free shipping.
