Troubleshooting

The individual resistors inside the battery pack are typically wire-wound and they can fail due to burnout in use and can also fail due to mechanical stress and vibration typically found in an automotive environment. When a blower resistor fails, the fan usually runs at only one speed, usually the maximum speed that can be set. Sometimes only some of the speed settings will fail, while other settings may work.

Day 1 Review: I'm installing this FABIKIN HVAC Blower Motor Resistor on a 2007 Toyota Avalon. It's relatively easy to install, do a search on Youtube for help, but you may need to get an old pillow or towel, to soften the surface IF you have to lie upside down on your car floor. Don't forget to disconnect the neg. battery terminal before and after installing. I like some sections of the ad for this part, that clearly tell you what cars it fits, and typical clues your part needs changed. I do wish it came w/ letter size instruction sheet - but understand that because the part fits many different cars, maybe this wasn't practical? I'd email the manufacturer any questions. I do wish it was offered at a lower price, but I also expect quality and support. I suggest you find out if your car has a cabin filter, and if so, check the condition of that, replace if necessary, and clean that area, to keep your fan working. Often, cabin filters are accessed after removing the glovebox door. Again, do a Google or Youtube search.

Installing this fixed an intermittent fan failure that would require me to bang on the glove box with whatever I had in hand. Now my fan works normally.
