This is the second time I have purchased these filters, and they work great in our unit. We start using the humidifier in Nov/Dec until mid-March. I use one to two a year. Sometimes the black mesh will start breaking off. Fit is great and the price is right.

I was wondering why my humidifier wasn't working and it showed that the filter needed to be changed. After checking the filter I saw that it was almost completely dry so I soaked it in water after which the humidifier started working again. Even when tank is full and the tray is filled these filters will not absorb the water except for 1 or 2 inches from the bottom.

It fits as a replacement unit, but after a couple weeks it no longer has enough wicking action to keep the filter moist for more than a few hours. This requires you to flip or re-submerge the filter in water.We live in a hard water area, so it's likely loading up with minerals. This is expected to some extent, however the filter density is too low to provide meaningful longevity, so the replacement interval is too frequent.

I use these filters in my Holmes humidifier HM1845. Good fit. However, over time the filter loses its ability to absorb water fast enough as to not dry out at the top. So, I turn it over in the humidifier and it works for a while longer. I noted that the filter shrinks a bit in height over time and so I use some cut strips of old filters to add some height. Ultimately, the filter gets too full of minerals to work well. I have high mineral content in my water. To rejuvenate the filter, I soak it in a vinegar/water solution for an hour or so. And, then the filter is good for use again. Not sure how many times I can use this restoring procedure. But, it sure does work.
