This item is incredibly brittle and cheap. I ordered one -- it arrived broken. I asked for a replacement -- that arrived broken as well. If it can't stand survive shipping, how good can it be? Save yourself some time and order something functional instead.

Larger than necessary, need too much of a sample to get a reading.

I enjoy this product as it is fatter and not as tall as previous test jars I have owned. Plus it has graduated volume lines. Makes it easier to read and grab hydrometer.Downside is the fragile hard plastic it is made from. I dropped it before I could use it, almost rendering it useless. However, I McGyvered the base to be better than before!

This is exactly what I was looking for. I've broken several glass ones already so its nice to have one that isn't going to shatter if you knock it over. Its the perfect size for my hydrometer. Its shorter so I don't have to pull as much sample.

Bought as a replacement for the glass one I broke. Seems solid, doesn't leak, and is definately more shatterproof than my old one (although I liked the continued clarity of viewing of the glass item - I expect this plastic version will scratch over time). Good size for small samples and use with ordinary sized hydrometers.

Hydrometer test jar 10 " plastic ...it's plastic I can't break so easy ...fast shipping ... packaged well ... Also bought a Hydrometer. I used it to get a final reading on my home made wine .. I had already started a gallon to see if I liked it .. it is yummy ...waiting for the peach now ... I'm new to this so it's a learning experience ... Had to go to you tube to learn what I needed it for and how to read and use it ..lol ..Better late than never I guess ...

product is as described. Holds appx. 4 oz of liquid. You could probably get away with using 3 oz to test your sp. gravity. I'd prefer a test jar of less volume to minimize wort loss. I would recommend that Midwest post the volume of this jar in the description. Other than that I am very happy with this well constructed piece of equipment at a fantastic value!
