Can't go wrong with ram style mounts. Love that this thing is made with 3 separate pieces. 1. You got your standard ball mount that screws on. 2. The plate that you can attach things to. 3. The holder part for clipping on walkie talkie style radios (gmrs etc). So even if you don't end up using it for its intended purpose, it is very easy to re-purpose the pieces later on for other mounting uses. If you think you could use it, get it. If you aren't using RAM mounts, start. You won't regret it in the long run especially for rugged offroad, suv, boat types of uses. It's THE way to go.

Using this in my truck. I already have the RAM arm and a base to attach it to (as pictured). This allows me to use one of my multiple handheld comms devices- mainly some motorola walkie talkies, as well as a Baofang radio

Kind of a funny doo-dad that I ran across, but one I really needed. My Bronco has the 1/4 accessory mount, and I had an armature/mount for my phone on it. Well I didn't like that very much, so I took it off.I keep a radio in the truck and have been jockying it around the entire time. Sometimes in the console. Sometimes in the cup holder. Sometimes in a seat. The wife hates it. So I ran across this thing, repurposed the arm from my phone mount, and boom. Radio sits on the dash in an easy to reach space without bothering anyone.

I have a Midland mobile radio installed in my Jeep Wrangler and needed a place to mount the microphone when being used. I already had a few ball mounts in my Jeep, so it was simple to connect this mount to my Jeep.

Got this to mount in my truck to keep my radio handy when on trails or out camping. I actually didn't use the ball mount, but rather secured the clip part directly to my overhead console in my 2nd Gen Tacoma. The walkies clip in easily and are secure when bouncing down rough forest roads and 4wd trails.
