2001 RX300 developed rough idle and set codes for 2,4,6 cylinders misfire and one for the VVT solenoid on that side. Oil level good so removed the indicated VVT valve, cleaned it up, tested plunger with 12 volts, and put it back in. Test drive after clearing codes seemed fine, but did feel like a lack of acceleration power, with no codes UNTIL parked back in garage...same codes. Replaced both VVTs, put it back together (only need to remove 2 or 3 tubes to access both VVVTs), cleared codes, and took it for another test drive. WAY MORE PERFORMANCE on acceleration, smooth idle, and no codes set after two days of driving it around. One of the easiest engine performance fixes I could hope for on the RX! Will update this review based on any longevity issues.

Fixed a friend's car.... Trouble codes indicated a whole host of problems, and the VVT solenoid was the most likely culprit. Price for this part was right. OEM Toyota/Lexus replacement part now appears to be made in china, so selected this china made item for it's overall reviews vs. price. Literally you get both vvt solenoids (bank 1 and bank 2) for less than half the price of a name brand replacement. Time will tell if this is the right choice. In the interim, I have cleaned and saved as a spare the original, since usually with the sludge issues these engines have, the part's problems are usually related to that. This part, combined with an oxygen sensor replacement and a bottle of premium fuel injector cleaner have fixed a problem that had a repair shop's $1500 estimate to fix. It was all done for under $120 in parts and materials, requiring under an hour of labor. Wow.

Bank 2 oil control valve (OCV) would not completely go down in the slot. I noticed that the angle of the slotted end of the OCV was in the wrong position.Bank 1 OCV fit into the slot but it gave me a Bank 1 error that I did not have before.Returning for a refund. (2001 Avalon)
