About this item

  • Hi-Z USB audio interface
  • MIDI converter
  • Designed for guitar/bass/voice/wind
  • True plug-and-play
  • Fast & accurate; near zero latency

The i2M musicport is a simple-to-use, highly effective, guitar-to-MIDI converter combined with a Hi-Z USB-Audio input. It is "Universal" because it doesn't need a special pick-up mounted on your guitar, but instead simply connects to your guitar using a standard guitar lead.

It works with guitar, piano (keys and synths), trumpet, saxes, tuba, cimbasso very well. It does not work very smoothly with Strings or trombone. I have Berlin strings samples and Project sam samples too. With strings it lags... any type of vibration you do on guitar the note bends horribly. I do use it for sax solos and piano solos because I am guitarist. So bottom line, it is a very useful tool if you are a guitarist and you are not very good at keys. But if you're trying to mock orchestral stuff you are better off with a piano controller.

Don't waste your time with this product. It did not function as advertised for me. It was not plug and play. Latency was extremely high, and I am rocking a serious music recording rig. Quad core and 16g ram. USB, 2.0, or 3.0, nothing worked. It can't recognize more than one note at a time when it recognizes notes at all. The firmware couldn't be updated, and Sonuus support was.... unsupportive. They couldn't or wouldn't help me with my issue. After poking around their forums further, it appears that they are incapable of helping anybody with their issues. Every support post that I read ended with the Sonuus representative thanking their customer for resolving their own problem. Absolute waste of money, and an awful company. I am buying Jam Origin's Midi Guitar software for my needs. I tried the demo and it works flawlessly, for $40 less!!! Or, if you have the money go with the Fishman Triple Play through Amazon.

No need for a divided pickup which can cost an extra $300.00 and up. Just plug and play. The unit is monophonic (no chords). There are ways around that, though with Jam Origin's Midi Guitar. A software driven package, which is polyphonic and has no latency. I would recommend the Sonuus I2M for any guitarist looking to convert any guitar to midi, without purchasing an expensive pedal.Check out some of the great videos out there if you're thinking of buying it. Once you see what it does for the price, you'll want one. Best of Luck !

The price is right, it's plug 'n' play, it looks kinda cool. But it doesn't actually work. When I say "doesn't work" it functionally operates, but the time lag is hideous and immediately one can tell that no matter how one adjusts playing style, sound, and instrument settings, it will never be a performance item. You could get away with recording maybe, but if you are keen enough to persevere, I would recommend either a more professional standard product, or just switch to a synth.

i research this product before, and i hear its bad, buit the true its a excellent product and idea, with mi guitar works super great, with mi hypercardiod micrphone, works very good, depends the preset i use, but defenetyly recognize your note and convert to midi, including bends, slides, vibratos, woow is very very fun and with the microphone im playing some very good pads and synths, some doesnt work very good depends the preset but the true is that nothing on the market can make you play synths VST with a micrphone or a guitar, maybe the roland for guitar but it cost like 699, ITS NOT A PRO PRECISION RECOGNITION but is the most close to that concept, very very very vey recomended you will have fun and expand yoour creativity so far, please everybode use it with micrphone hypercariod too, jeje very good !

I can't say enough good things about this little piece of wizardry. It's truly an amazing device. It's beautifully designed and implemented (I'm a designer, so my appreciation is doubled.) I won't go into all the features as that can be found elsewhere, but I will say that the i2M Musicport is a superb combination of physical hardware and software and delivers on all it's promised features. The device itself is about as small as it can possibly be and still do the job. It's scarcely larger than the 1/8" jack from the guitar. The glowing LED (green and orange) logo on the i2M is ethereal and beautiful in it's own right. The physical interface (which allows 4 MIDI configuration) is extremely easy to use (you can even use MIDI program changes to change the configuration if you your hands are occupied with fretting and picking.)The supporting software is as beautifully designed as the hardware. It works flawlessly for setting up the four configuration schemes available and for setting up the device in general. It's so cool that you can split your fretboard and send bass MIDI signals on one channel and lead MIDI on another. Just very, very cool stuff. If you are a guitarist and are interested in controlling MIDI instruments you MUST get the i2M! I will say that although you can plug and play and the response is immediate and gratifying, to truly get maximum utility from the i2M, you need to spend time and tweak the settings to your own playing style. Also, to get the most from the i2M, you will need to learn how to control the signal generated from your strings by palm muting and pick action. But that's standard to achieve the best output from any musical instrument.I use a Mac and the i2M is a great controller for GarageBand or Logic. It's so much fun to play a rock organ from a guitar! In conclusion, if you are a guitarist with an interest in MIDI, get the i2M. You will have a blast!
