OK I read the other reviews, which made me pull mine out quickly to see if any of it was broken. Luckily, it was fine from that perspective. Mine are all in one piece, and there seems to be adequate room underneath the smaller containers to hold a decent amount of ice. The curious moment came when I noticed two prongs, one on either end, which clearly are there to attach a 1-piece lid that would cover the entire piece (all four smaller dishes). There's no lid in this set, and the description and photos do not indicate there would be one. So, you have pronge on the ends for a lid it doesn't come with. Now comes the real problem. The lids that are supposed to cover the small dishes fit on them fine when they're out of the main compartment (but the lids don't secure...they just rest on top). When you try to put all four small dishes with their lids into the main compartment, there isn't enough length for the lids to fit. It results in two of the lids buckling up off the dish, so you cannot assemble this entire thing, with the lids, and put it into the fridge unless you want two dishes to dry out.

not sure how long ice will keep on a super hot day as it's not really insulated, it's just containers. but, it does work as described! will likely buy one more and would probably put frozen ice trays underneath these just for extra coldness. :)

This condiment caddy is made of thick plastic and feels substantial. It would be great for serving at a party, BBQ, or just to have at a home drink mixing station.If outside, you can fill the bottom with ice to keep everything chilled. Each container holds almost 3 cups. Possibilities are endless: fill it with ketchup, mustard, mayo, and BBQ sauce, or go with tomatoes, pickles, onions, and lettuce, just to name a couple.Each container has a lid, but it just sits on top of the container, it doesn't click into place or lock. I took one star off for that reason, and because the lids don't really fit on the containers, either, when they are all inside the caddy together. Even knowing that, I would still recommend this item.

Althought these have lots of different uses, I ordered this maily to keep my meats chilled when using my electric hot pot.I prep my sliced meats (chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp or lamb), and like to keep them on ice, so they stay very fresh. With the hot pot, we cook everyone's hot pot one at a time, so it takes awhile from beginning to end and I'm not comfortable with leaving the meats to come to room temperature while we're cooking.This works perfectly for that - Ice in the bottom, thinly sliced meats in the dishes, and I have other bowls I use for the veggies, and a 3-crockpot unit I use for noodles and rice. With that, this caddy completes my set-up for Hot Pot!
