This skate tool is an essential item for hockey players and parents seeking to prolong skate sharpening intervals. It effectively removes burrs and dull edges, enhancing blade longevity. As a goalie who prefers exceptionally sharp skates, I find this tool invaluable for maintaining performance between professional sharpenings. However, I do advise some caution with use. Excessive pressure or passes can over-sharpen blades, impacting stopping ability. I recommend starting with one or two light passes, ensuring consistent pressure throughout. If over-sharpening occurs, blades can be dulled by lightly dragging them along a rink bench or running a hockey puck along the edges.
