My mother-in-law has often lamented that she can't find an 'old-fashioned' nightgown that she likes anymore, except at bespoke shops. They are either covered in itchy lace, or meant to be more for husbands to enjoy (if you know what I mean), or made from hot unbreathable polyester, or... If you do find one, its just too expensive.So I decided to make her one roughly based on the age-old chemise patterns, from combed cotton lawn, perfect for those muggy summer nights in the American south, and reminiscent of those 1960's babydoll nighties her mom used to make. But I wanted something prettier than just drawstrings in casings.Enter this eyelet trim... My biggest concern was that it would be stiff and scratchy, as so many trims are. But this trim is nice and soft. It fits a 3/8" ribbon insert perfectly. Sews on with a univeral needle quite well, if you take your time (when the needle gets caught on a bit of the embroidery thread, it may try to snap, so just go slow and steady.) The color is the perfect bright white; not sure if it would accept dye well (the fabric likely would, but the thread might be resistant), but thats where adding a nice 3/8th satin ribbon in whatever accent color you want is the perfect accompaniment.The 7 yards arrived nicely packaged and wrapped around cardboard, so its smooth and unwrinkled, as well as ealy to unwind for your projects. I used almost the whole length for this project so I fully intend to order more just to keep in my stash. I am positive it will come in handy for future sewing peojects too.

The trim is gorgeous and it is well made. The holes have no little strings in between the eyelets. Love everything about this piece. Better than anywhere I have been shopping. Michaels, hobby lobby, Joann's.

The lace is sturdy bust soft. I used it for a nightgown and it looks great with a red satin ribbon running through it.
