My spark plug wire had split in the bend coming out of the coil due to age and fatigue from the wire being tight, this coil has a much longer wire which eliminates that strain but not so much that you need to do anything with it to prevent excess getting caught in anything.

I only bought this because I noticed that other people purchased this item at the same time they purchased the spark plug. So Iām thankful that Amazon has that feature. Because when I replaced the spark plug my motorcycle would not start. So I put this part on and my motorcycle started right up. It was very easy to put on when compared to many of the other things I had to take off and put on. Such as the gas tank.

I had no spark, checked all of the safety switches, ended up at the Coil and found it was off Spec. Ordered this new Coil , installed it, Got Spark , Engine Started. Runs fine now.

On my 2012 KLR, the length of the spark plug wire was longer than the OEM spark plug wire. Not an issue however, as the length is not so long that you wind up with an excessive amount of spark plug wire. If the front of the bike is 12 o'clock, the OEM spark plug cap is placed at 2 o'clock and the wire runs straight to the coil. On this aftermarket coil, the spark plug cap is placed at 5 o'clock and the wire makes a gradual 180 degree loop back to the front to reach the coil. The 180 degree loop is an easy one and does not strain the spark plug wire at all. All in all, I am happy with the fit of this product.I have not had the coil on the bike very long so can not say anything about the durability/longevity. My OEM coil started breaking down at high RPM causing the engine to skip badly. It was either the spark plug wire or the coil going bad but I don't have the testing devices to determine exactly which one, but this aftermarket ignition coil replaces both the coil and the spark plug wire for a low cost so why not change both?Bought this coil because it was WAY cheaper than a replacement OEM coil. The OEM coil on my bike was working well enough that I could keep riding the bike to work, but I would not take the bike out of town the way it was running. Figured I would try this coil since it is so inexpensive and if it did not work then put the faulty OEM coil back on the bike and save up for a replacement OEM coil/spark plug wire.Put this aftermarket coil on and the bike cranked up much quicker (indicating my OEM coil was not working very well at all at any RPM) and the engine has run very well all the way to redline. So far have only used the bike to commute to work so for a half hour the coil is working fine. Would like to take a multi-hour long distance ride next summer to really see if the coil holds up to extended high temperature/high RPM situations before feeling 100% confident in this aftermarket coil.Again, I don't have the right testing equipment so I did not measure the resistance of this aftermarket coil before installing so I have no idea if the coil is the right specs. Kawasaki lists a pretty wide range of allowable resistances anyway, so figured I would just stick it on the bike and it will work or it won't. So far it works.Give it 4 stars because I have not gone on a long ride to make sure the coil hold up to that kind of riding. For commuting riding so far I would give it 5 stars.
