Stiffer design eliminates that sloppy feeling of stock levers for more positive shifting response. Won’t let the bike jump out of gear when the lever hits an obstacle. Cheaper and more durable than stock shift levers. For: Kawasaki KLR250 85-86, KLR600 84-87, KLR650R 89-07.

Put it on my 1986 kl600 supermoto project works great if you have a size 11 boot, it’s about a inch longer than oem much smoother when it comes up shifting.

This was a perfect addition for my 2016 KLR 650. The stock shift lever was short which made shifting very difficult when wearing riding boots. This IMS lever is a little longer and now shifting in my boots is a breeze. No issues with the lever rubbing against the engine either. Haven't taken a spill on the bike with the new lever so I cannot verify its durability, but it seems well made.

Fit my KLR (2003) perfect but I noticed that in the position that I like it, it hits the frame when shifting into 1st gear. I spent a couple of minutes filing the bottom of the lever and it works great. Much stronger than stock and a touch longer making shifts easier.

The fit is great and it doesn't hit the case like the one from MSR I bought. My only complaint is that I can't get it in the right spot. one notch has it sitting above my foot, meaning I need to lift my foot off the peg in order to down shift, and it is a slight strain to up-shift. If I move it down one tooth, it seems to be in the perfect spot BUT it hits the frame when trying to shift into first (meaning I need to double tap down from second in order to get through neutral). It's still 100% better than the stock one that broke, I just wish I didn't need to grind off some of the bottom so I can shift into first gear.

DOES WORK ON 2009 AND NEWER. I just installed this beauty on my 2015, so do not listen to the "Does it fit" BS on the Amazon page. This is amazing. I wear a size 12 Alpinstar Tech 10 ( super stiff MotoX boots) and it is awesome. Shifting was such a chore before, and really had to be thought about and I kept missing the 1st-2nd shift and then would catch and downshift accidentally when I was trying to slide my foot under to up shift. This IMS upgrade was easy to install and holy cow. If you have a size 11+ I would say make this a top priority. It makes shifting so enjoyable instead of a chore.

Like many other KLR riders, the stock shifter is just a little too short for my comfort, especially when wearing boots and after replacing the footpegs(side-note: I got these:http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Motorbike-Footpegs-Footrest-1987-2005/dp/B00ES5LN0Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397468030&sr=8-3&keywords=klr+footpegswhich, at the time, were $20 (and, afaik, are cheaper on amazon.co.uk); I can recommend them over stock pegs too, and at a very good price)This shifter is a little longer, enough to accommodate my foot better, but not so much as to leave me stretching.Overall build quality is good, finish is good, product looks good and seems to perform as expected, however, please to bear the following in mind:1) As mentioned, it's longer than stock. If your feet are only just making it now, this is not the part for you. Go get a stock replacement if you really need a replacement.2) The clamping part at the back was slightly too open for a snug fit when tightening down in the small space afforded. I'd suggest you tighten the bolt down to bend/clamp it a bit more shut (and then of course take the bolt out again) before attempting to fit this lever. If the lever wiggles on the splined gear rod, it will wear the rod and you'll end up paying a lot more to have that replaced. Trust me, I've seen this on another bike.3) I would have appreciated it if the design of the lower bend were different, that is, bent up a little then back down again in a gentle "U" shape -- this would have allowed me to set the shifter to a lower position. As it is, this shifter has in common with the stock one the limitation on how low it can be set because the bike frame gets in the way, preventing down-shift. It's not a huge deal because the stock shifter had the same limitation, but I really would have preferred the shifter to have been set one notch further counter-clockwiseAll-in-all, it's a good product at a reasonable price and recommendable as a replacement part. My bike is an '04, but I understand that this fits a large range of models.

Sometimes you just don't realize the deficiencies you live with until you replace the old with something new. That was the case for me with the stock shifter. It's not that the stock shifter is terrible, it's just not good. In my case the weld of the stock shifter broke and I welded it back together instead of replacing. But even before the joint broke the shifter had a lot of give to it and seemed to have awkward leverage... but you adjust and move on.I decided to try the IMS shifter. It seemed like a relatively inexpensive upgrade even though I was content with the stock shifter. All I can say is that it was money well spent. The deficiencies I accepted with the stock shifter were instantly gone when I installed the IMS shifter. It gives you a nice solid feel and is slightly longer to allow for a bit more leverage. Highly recommend.

I have a KLR 250 which is notoriously uncomfortable. The shifter is a metal end so if you aren't wearing hard boots it really beats the top of your shifter foot up. This is longer and has a rubber end and the difference is immediate. You have more leverage for surer shifts and less pain which also leads to surer shifts. I added larger pegs and gave me the extra space I needed to maintain a good shift position for my foot. Looks cool also!NEW NOTE:DO NOT BUY THRU AMAZON, they will allow some scam retailers to bait and switch you and the " a-z guarantee" is no guarantee it's just a marketing scheme so you feel safe but once's your scammed they just keep the money. They do not care about anything but your money try a small business who cares. I was a long time purchaser thru amazon but I got ripped off. I should have never fell for the big business scam.
