Although I have a newer up-to-date iMac I still do a lot of work on my 14-year-old Macpro because I prefer how some of the legacy software works. I did need to increase the speed for transferring files between the two and added a new external MyBook. This card is just what I needed. Easy to install and worked plug-n-play flawlessly without having to fuss with any drivers or other complications (yay Mac!). Even came with a tiny screwdriver to get it done.

I was needing something that I could plug into one of my available PCIE 3.0 slots on my motherboard and this did the job! It's helped increase the speed of my Plex server and it's several connected external hard drives. I've noticed a few seconds increase in the load time with my content on my server, which was all I ever wanted to accomplish 🤩

I have a 10 year old PC that I had upgraded to Windows 10, but without USB 3.0 or USB-C. I plugged this card into an empty PCIe x1 expansion slot, booted up, and Windows did the rest. I did not need any additional software or to install any drivers, etc. All the ports work nicely. One thing to be ware of is that PCI express slots and cards were first introduced in 2003. The cards come in different sizes (x1 to x16) and different versions (from 1.0 to 7.0). There are charts available showing the capabilities of the various iterations. The older your computer, the less this card will deliver (in terms of the speed of data transfer). For example, a PCIe x1 v.1.0 card has a maximum transfer rate of 250MB/sec. So, if you’re expecting your newly added USB-C ports to be capable of 5 or 10GB/sec, you’re going to be disappointed. If you have a new computer, it will deliver as advertised, but I imagine most people with new computers don’t need this device, and already have USB 3.0 and USB-C slots, or if additional slots are needed, they’re just plugging a hub into an existing port.

Purchased this item to add USB ports to my computer as there were only a few USB 3 built in. This item added 5 ports and all run at a good speed as suggested in the write-up. Looking at getting a second one for an older computer that needs the USB 3.Would recommend, as it is working great for me.

Se ve bien hecha y trabajó instantáneamente en Mac OS12.4. Las tasas de transferencia mejoraron de 16 a 160 Mbytes/segundo. Yo ya tenía la versión anterior. Una actualización bienvenida.

Good package, easy install, no additional driver needed on Win11. Speed is a little shy. Same external SSD I got 1000MB/s with onboard port, with this one, I got about 850MB/s. I noticed the title said 8Gbps after I got the card, so that makes sense. All five ports are a little tight. One USB-A didn't work well with one drive (changed cable, didn't fix), but worked for another drive. Overall, good one. Hope it will last.

The downside of not having dedicated external power supply is that it would only work with selected motherboards. Based on the other reviews this seems to be working fine with Macs, but for anyone using PC I would be careful choosing this; especially if you are using PCIe GPU cards. This modules potentially consumes 15W and not every mother board is designed to supply that through on board supply when used with other PCie cards.I had return and buy another module with external supply and it worked fine.

Bought in order to get 60fps with my StreamCam, which always complains about needing a "USB 3.0 port to achieve 60fps" even when plugged into a 3.0 port. Verified it actually needs a 3.1 port for that rate on a diff machine. Well...this card didn't install the right drivers off the batt. Tried manual installation after fishing the net for drivers. Didn't seem to work, rebooted a bunch of times and it eventually recognized the port and the webcam. However....when plugged into any of the USB A ports, it gave the same warning for the standard 3.0 port. Then I tried the 2 USB C ports and warning went away but experienced constant image glitching. In conclusion, advertised as a USB 3.2 card...not sure about that and NOT on all ports. Does NOT work properly with the Logitech StreamCam on ANY of the ports supplied. Drivers are iffy.Had to assemble it to install...they couldn't be bothered to attach the standard PCI mounting bracket. I thought multiple were supplied and you had to pick one but nope.. just 1... the standard. Absolute junk.
