This is a good cushion for the price. I have a few of them and this is about the same quality of another cheaper brand that I own and pretty close to the name brand one I own that was twice as expensive.I mainly use these for wildlife photography but will also use them for hiking/backpacking or at events. I got this to use in place of my name brand one for photography as that one is neon green. Not that animals can see it when I'm sitting on it, but I imagine it's like a beacon when I'm getting set up.It inflates in about the same time as my others, but I didn't time it. the difference would be negligible at best. It is harder to deflate though. I'm not sure why as the valve is huge especially compared to my name brand one.The included bag is garbage. It ripped the first time I tried putting the pad back in. Probably due to the deflation issue. Yes, I closed the valve after I rolled it up. I threw it in the trash as it's not really needed anyway, especially with the extra band that is included.

The way self-inflation works on a cushion like this is through a one-way valve due to the expansion of the foam within. That might be too slow, and not really enough for getting the maximum benefit out of this cushion. But, one good puff of air blown into the valve is enough to firm it up quite a bit--worked fine for me.I sat on it on my concrete garage floor, and it was perfectly fine for a a cushion like this. It is designed to be lightweight and easy to carry in a pack or toss into camping kit. I find it useful to compare things in their proper category and not expect something to perform in a way it is not designed for. If you have any experience with self-inflating sleeping pads commonly used for packing and comping, you'll have the right expectation for this seat cushion. It is perfect in that category--these are not intended to be luxury items or provide the comfort of your favorite living room chair. So, I find this item to be worth the price--I've used similar items in the past for camping and this one is good quality and compares very well. It'll be great on bleacher benches.Opening the valve, folding it in half and rolling it up the way it came works very well, but just not quite as tightly as when it came out of the sack. I was determined to get it back into the stuff sack, and I succeeded, but it was simply not worth the effort. A velcro strap that allows you to cinch it tight before you close the velcro will work just fine. I'd put it into the stuff sack if I were done with it for a season or a camping trip to put it in storage in the garage, but I would not put myself through the ordeal of getting it into the sack every time I used it on a backpack trip where I would be putting it away one or two times a day.

I’m all about comfort, and sometimes when we go to public places, the seats aren’t all that comfortable, so I like to bring a cushion with me. But it’s a little embarrassing walking into a place with a big ol’ cushion in your hand! So I wanted something discreet, so nobody would even know I’m bringing a cushion. I saw the Amazon picture of the guy holding this cushion all rolled up in its bag, about the size of a can of soda, and I knew this was it!! I can just toss this cushion into my purse or even a waist pack and bring it right in – nobody would even see it! Then I just inflate it in a few seconds and …. Ahhhhh …. Comfort!!I love it! The fabric on top is kind of silky soft to the touch and the cushion itself is really comfortable. I can blow it up as little or as much as I want to get just the right comfort level, plus it has a memory foam pad inside it. It’s waterproof, so my seat won’t get wet if I’m sitting on the ground or a wet park bench. It’s also insulative, so I won’t feel the cold ground or cold metal bleachers. I can also fold it in half and use it as lumbar support. There is an elastic loop on one end that makes a great handle for it as well as a way to keep it rolled up when deflated. And of course, the just-a-little-bigger-than-a-soda-can-sized bag to carry it in. About the only thing this cushion is missing is some non-slip texture on the bottom. Depending on the type of seat I’m on, the slippery fabric of the bottom of this cushion makes it slide out from under me!

I have two main points. The first is about the self-inflation. The second is about fitting it back into the bag. FIRSTLY, this pad is indeed self-inflating. Once you unroll it and open the valve, it will start filling with air on it's own. After a short time (a couple minutes) it will be filled, but you also have the option to use a pump or your own breathe to put in a last burst of air for a bigger fill. Personally, I wouldn't bother with a pump because it really only takes one breath of air from your mouth to top it off (and also, you don't want to overfill it or it wmay pop when you put weight on it). If you scroll down to the bottom of the ad, you can see the seller's photos of instructions and what type of valve it has. SECONDLY, a lot of reviewers mention that it's hard to put back in the stuff sack. I personally did not have a problem making it fit. It was close, but not a struggle. The key is to close the valve after rolling. Just make sure that you open the valve, fold the pad in half, roll it toward the valve to squeeze out all the air, close the valve, slide on the attached elastic ring on one end, slide on the second loose elastic ring on the other end and place in bag. If you don't close the valve, the pad will start self-inflating, taking on air and getting bigger while you're trying to put it back in the bag. I'd also like to mention this pad has a small to average size. If you have a plus size bottom, there's going to be some butt overhang. It's still a worthwhile pad to use in a pinch when you need something small, lightweight, easy to deal with and inexpensive.
