Definitely needed in dry sandy/wet conditions. Considering how close my filter is to the ground, it's a necessity. Will hopefully keep the filter dry when it rains at highway speeds.

I received this a few weeks after having installed my CAI. Installation was easy. While I can't really say much for how well it works, as it's out of sight in my engine bay, it is safe it likely works well, as I have yet to have any engine issues occurring from the CAI due to water (well, anything really) since installation. It's very 'out of sight, out of mind' however, it does also give a certain piece of mind that is helpful.

This prefilter is easier to install as it just cover over the cone filter. Some say it's not necessary to use it but I think it is best to keep water from the filter element as much as possible for longer life in between service. The material of this pre filter really repel water.
