Generally happy, seems well made, easy install. Notes: dims LED nicely (no flicker), but doesn't dim down to 0%. In other words, instead of 0-100% control, more like 30/40%-100%. Not a huge deal unless you wanted to dim down to a glow. Also, schematic shows load (bulb) being wired on end nearest dimmer knob, but circuit board shows load wired to opposite end of switch. I chose to follow printed circuit board load location and worked fine. Knocked a star off for this error in instructions

I bought these to replace a failed dimmer. I bought the 2-pack because of the cost per saving and because I imagine I will want to install the other on another fixture. The installation was straightforward and the step-by-step instructions were thorough. The rotary dimmer is easy to use and very good. The white color matched the lamp cord. All cool!

I replaced a cracked inline dimmer on a decorative table lamp in the living room. The original was soldered in place so I was pleased to find this one that does not need soldering. It was easy to cut the cord and replace with this one. Tools needed were a wire stripper and very small screwdriver. The instructions are clear. But there is one error you should know about. The illustration is reversed where it shows the load side and the lamp side. The actual dimmer is what you should follow. Load goes to the outlet and the other side goes to the lamp. To simplify installation you strip the ends of the wire, insert them into slots and crimp them down with screws. Two issues: the slots are fairly shallow. So strip only about 3/16" of insulation. You don't want bare wire extending outside of the slot. Second is that the binding screws are quite small and the slots won't fit a standard screwdriver. So be sure you have a set of jewelers screwdrivers on hand. Other than that, the finished install is quite clean and safe. The dimmer works well and does a linear dim. My lamp happens to still have incandescent bulb so I cannot comment on dimming an LED bulb. But it is rated for them. I recommend this dimmer.

Giving this 5 stars because it WORKS and has a smooth dim (not incremental) and I had a very hard time finding an LED compatible lamp dimmer that didn't require soldering or ordering from somewhere special.Other reviews mentioned the bad instructions so I was prepared to do some problem solving for the installation. You will need a small electronics size phillips screwdriver fyi. The first problem was "separating the parts". You need to take the dial off...it just pops out from the outside but it's very firm and keeps the board attached on the underside so you need to take that off to get the board out. Then for wiring you need to read the markings on the actual board. One side is marked load and the other N (neutral) and L(line). The wood type screws are fine - I think they actually dig into the plastic (the plastic didn't seem to be threaded). Regular 18/2 type lamp cord fit in the openings okay. The plastic case top and bottom does have a slightly bad fit together but it's fine.

It’s easy to install and it works but its not dimming enough.

Doesnt work as advertised. Not really a dimmer, more like a switch. Full bright on this is much less than just normally plugged in. When the dial is rotated to dim it instantly fades to very low and when you try to increase the brightness, it starts to flicker. Very very poor dimming range. Its junk, avoid it and as others pointed out - wiring instructions are wrong.

I was looking for an inline dimmer for a couple of lamps. This was just what I needed. It was a simple process to install, you only need wire cutters, wire strippers and a small Phillips head screwdriver. Directions are simple to follow. I’m a DIY’er so it took me about 10 minutes start to finish to install one.if you are using this with an LED bulb it must be the type that is dimmable (it will say “dimmable” on the box and on the base of the bulb). This is truly a variable dimmer from full Off to full on.
