STEP 1
- Take off the bolts to remove the carrier from the axle assembly.
- NOTE: There are shims in here so make sure that you don't mess those up.
STEP 2
- Remove the old inner seals on both sides. Then clean any dirt out the tubes.
STEP 3
- Put the new seal on the puck. Then place the seal and the tool in the differential.
- Tighten the nut until the new seal is in the right place.
STEP 4
- Remove the tool. Then repeat the Step 3 to install the new seal on the other side.

I have seen people install front axles seals in Jeep Dana 30s all sorts of ways from a hammer and a socket to a socket with tons of extensions to reach down the other axle tube and a hammer to pound it in. Doing any of these risks not only messing the seal itself up by damaging the rubber but you could put it in crooked and have issues with it wearing the seal out prematurely! THIS tool is CHEAP so its absolutely worth it if you even PLAN to install new seals in your Dana front end! It will drive the seal in perfectly flat with simple twists of a nut!The installer is made VERY well and is high quality. The drive nut easily runs down the threads and doesnt bind up. It is stored in the case an odd way and NOT the way its supposed to be used so look at the instructions! When stored the nut is placed on the end of the threads to hold all the drive pieces in place.

This made replace the front axe seals on my 05 Wrangler a breeze. I was able to get them set to the proper depth quickly without having to sit there checking it every two seconds. Worth every penny!

Since the earth's crust cooled (I'm old), I have been using the right-sized seal driver and a hammer to pound inner axle seals in, but when I saw this tool, I eagerly ordered it in!The tool is well-made and comes in a nice case with a two-part latch that is more likely to "hang in there" with repeated use. The premise of the tool is simple enough: start the seal by hand and then run the nut out expanding the tool and thereby pressing in the axle seal. Neat. I'll update this review once I've used it.
