The motor, plugs and heatsink must be oriented a certain way to fit. For that I remove a star.

Using a rpm trans housing. I ground down the side next to the the wires about 1/4 inch to get it to clear the axle. Also it would not fit with the motor in any other orientation. It's a standard 30x30x7 mm fan so it's worth buying the bracket and swapping out the fan when it does go out. Yea the wires suck on the fan with about 6 inches of total wire length. I just soldered the wire and ran it to the receiver. When the fan does go out I might run it to the esc with a y connector.

I have a 2wd slash with a 5200kv brushless motor and it would get insanely hot on 2 and 3s you couldn't touch it for even a split second, usually a 5200kv motor is one of the shortest motors especially mine it barely sticks out of the transmission case and I managed to get it to fit and it fit on my motor can with no glue or anything just snaps on and plug it into channel 3 or 4 on receiver and bam instant cooling. I did a 30min test run of full throttle runs up and down my street on 2s and it was a night and day difference between before and after the fan, I can touch my motor and hold my fingers on it as long as I want without burning me when before if I did it for 2seconds I would blister lol. This is a must have if you are running a high kv motor or high gearing or if you just want to keep your stock motor cooler then this is your product.

Was not a full snap on click I was hoping for had to glue it to my motor 540 can dynamite Razer 6 pole..after that it works great really keeps temps down..runing 3s 50c Lipo on a fast gear setup and temps are no hotter than 140f on a how day....compared to the 165 170 ish I was getting up to..thats a significant decrease having leeway for more aggressive gearing..

I have only used this heatsink/fan a couple of times since I bought it. So far it is still working.Like most of the stuff you buy these days, you have to modify it before you can use it. The plug that comes attached to the fan is a female plug and so is the auxiliary plug that comes with the Traxxas Rustler VXL. The heatsink/fan includes a male plug, but you have to cut the female plug off of either the fan or the Rustler and solder the male plug on in its place. If they are going to advertise the heatsink/fan to work on a Rustler, it should be configured to actually work on a Rustler. How hard is that to figure out?

It works great, good quality, just sorta went out after a week of use and not any harsh use at all, but I think mine was just a dud as they say.

I have a Rustler VXL. Also have the Velineon cooling fan. To make this work, I had to rotate the motor backwards to where the wires are out more towards the back of the Car. Reason being, the heatsink won't clip onto the motor. There's not enough room. It's really easy tho. Take off the gear cover, take off the pinion gear. Unbolt the motor, take it out.. you will see 4 holes that line up with the gear box. Simply rotate the motor to line up with the next set of holes in the gear box putting the wires more towards the back. Then put everything back together. Now for wiring it, you need to get a longer wire and plug it into the receiver box. Or get a Y adapter and run it in with the fan. There are videos on youtube for all of this.

Wires are way too short
