Using this for communication with out basement dweller. The sound quality is very difficult to understand what the other person is saying. Sounds exactly like the walkie talkies I had as a child. Have mostly resigned to using it as a doorbell to get the kids attention when they are in the basement. Would not rely on this for sustained communication. The doorbell sounds are very very loud and can wake you up if they are in the same room. Most of the ringtones are very noticeable.

If you have teens then you know it’s difficult to get their attention when they are holed away in their rooms. This keeps the yelling at bay and allows communication for when dinner is ready or it’s time for chores. Each intercom comes with its own charging base. We’ve had no issues with the range from anywhere in the home. It is really loud, even when the volume is at the lowest setting.
