Für unterschiedliche Länder liegen verschiedene Adapter bei, die man auf den Stromstecker montieren kann. Ein USB-Kabel, wahlweise für USB-C oder Standard USB geeignet, verbindet Gerät und Rechner.Für einen guten Kontrast rollt man die mitgelieferte schwarze Matte aus, auf der sich Größen bis über DIN A3 platzieren lassen. Für den Scanner gibt es am oberen Rand eine passende Aussparung, so dass sich dieser passgenau platzieren lässt.Twain-Treiber heruntergeladen und installiert. Damit kann man den Scanner schon mal mit jeder vorhandenen Software betreiben.Egal, wie man ein Papier hinlegt oder einfach lässig auf die Matte wirft, findet die Optik gleich den richtigen Winkel und fängt das Blatt korrekt ein. Genaues Ausrichten ist also nicht unbedingt nötig.Will man im Akkord scannen oder auch mit beiden Hände ein Buch festhalten, liegen sowohl ein Hand-Taster als auch ein Fuß-Schalter bei, die als Trigger in den Scanner eingesteckt werden können.Mit einer leichten Berührung lässt sich eine eingebaute Lampe aktivieren und verschiedene Helligkeitsstufen wählen.Während ein Flachbett-Scanner erst mal losrennt, um das Blatt abzutasten, geht das hier um Längen schneller, da der Scanner das Objekt der Wahl mit dem Objektiv erfasst und das Ergebnis live am Bildschirm betrachtet werden kann. Ist man mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden, ist das Bild per Klick umgehend im Rechner.600 dpi sind im Allgemeinen für alles ausreichend - zumindest ist mein Bedarf damit in jeder Situation gedeckt. Bücher lassen sich enorm schnell und ohne sie mechanisch zu beschädigen - wie beim "einpressen" in einen Flachbettscanner - einscannen. Klick, umblättern, Klick, ...Darüber hinaus gehört zu dem Paket eine professionelle PDF-Software, mit welcher man jedes (papierne) Dokument in eine editierbare Datei umwandeln kann.Die Software alleine kostet einzeln bereits über hundert Euro und ersetzt für mich auch gleich meine vorhandene Adobe- und weitere PDF-Software.Ich beschäftige mich hobbymäßig auch ein wenig mit Ahnenforschung und bekomme da immer mal wieder leihweise ein paar alte Zeitungsausschnitte, Heftchen und Bücher, die zum Teil schon durch zu festes Anschauen auseinanderzufallen drohen. Mit dem Teil hier kann man sie berührungslos einscannen. Geht auf jeden Fall bedeutend besser als z.B. mit dem Handy.Nicht ganz billig der Spaß, in meinen Augen aber jede Mark, naja, oder heutzutage Euro ;-), wert!Ginge es nach mir, gäbe es auch sechs Sterne :-)PS: Bei ein paar Startschwierigkeiten mit der Software hat der Support umgehend, mehrmals am Tag, geantwortet und geholfen. I've used a flat bed scanner for years and strugged with squishing pages from books down onto the glass. It was very cumbersome to do more than a page or two. I knew I wanted a "book" scanner as this is something I do regularly. Got this and it far exceeded my expectations.Got the software installed and registered. Set the scanner up as recommended. It comes with a nice black mat for placing items to be scanned on. Load up the software and scan away.You have a choice of two controllers to plug into the scanner. One is a button that you can have next to the scanner and when you are ready for the next scan. Hit the button. This works great for me as I have the scanner on a table near my PC. I scan see the screen but interacting with the keyboard or mouse would be difficult. I can see each image come up as I can. Change the image, hit the button. This worked great for documents.For books there is a better solution. A foot pedal. This way you can keep both hands on the book and getting it placed properly. When ready, click the foot pedal, the on to the next page. You can really whip through pages in a book quickly.It does come with a built in light that you can use if the lighting conditions in your location aren't adequate.The software supports a tone of different formats and has options for documents, books as well as barcodes, ID Documents and video. Haven't played with Video but it seems like it could be used to make demonstrations.It was quite intuitive, once I had every things setup. The image quality was superb.Now in addition to scanning documents and books I also wanted to use this for my crafting hobby. I play boardgames and I make a lot of accessories for them for personal use. Frequently I wanted to incorporate an image from the gameboard or from the odd sized instruction manual. This was almost impossible with a flat bed scanner. With this it is quite simple. I use document scanning. Get the part of the board that I want under the camera. Hit the button and I have my image. So this would be great for any use case where you want to scan something off of a larger, bulkier item.I have so many projects that I am going to use this for. It is simple to use but quite powerful. I am so impressed. I can't stop raving about this.

I have a bunch of older service manuals and schematics that it would be nice to be able to digitize. This type of scanner works well for them without taking up a large amount of space.The software that it comes with (internet download required) is dead simple to use, and seems to work well (though I have not had any personal experience with any other software for this type of scanner). There's options for document scanning, taking pictures, batch scanning a book, and video recording as well (though the frame rate is extremely low, so don't expect anything that's super useful).There is a TWAIN driver for Windows so you can use other software as well, but for book scanning, the bundled software will handle processing book page curls where generic TWAIN-compatible scanning software may not do so.Hardware-wise I noticed two things that would improve the experience a bit as well. One is that it would be nice if there were two USB ports on the back of the scanner so both buttons can remain plugged in. While in most cases, I see a project using one or the other it would be nice to just leave them both connected and call it good. I did find out that a USB hub can be plugged in to the scanner and both buttons connected that way, or you can plug one into the scanner and one into your PC. The second QOL thing I would suggest is a more diffused lens over the lamp. The lamp it is equipped with provides plenty of light, but there can be a bright reflection spot on glossy or semi-glossy pages. This would be reduced if it were a frosted lens, though potentially at the cost of light intensity.Regarding software set-up, the manual points you to a downloads page where there are three files. One is the TWAIN driver, one is the scanning software, and one is a trial of a PDF editing program. There is also a sticker on the box with a license key to the PDF editing program. That link requires user information for registration and then takes you to a download of the exact same file that is on the driver download page. Skip the data collection, and just download the trial from the driver page and enter the product key into that program after installing it. Sadly, the PDF software is a 1-year subscription, not a perpetual license. I regret activating mine right away as I don't often need to edit PDFs, and would have preferred to wait until I actually needed it, or perhaps just skipped it since I hate subscriptions.As far as operating system compatibility, I installed the software and drivers on a Windows 11 laptop with no issue. The website mentions Windows 10 and 11 compatibility (I did not try older versions just to see), and it also mentions MacOS, but doesn't reference what versions are supported. Linux is not mentioned at all. Out of curiosity, I plugged it into a Linux Mint 22 computer and ran the document scanner program but it didn't detect a scanner. I then installed Cheese and ran it to see if it saw it as a camera and it pulled up a video feed from it right away. The frame rate in Linux for video capture is way better than on Windows, though the image in the video feed is a bit grainy. I did not try using it with the Windows camera application. I don't have a modern Mac computer to do any meaningful testing with.Overall, I'm happy with it and will be able to put it to use on the rare occasions that I need to scan a larger document, or want to digitize a book.

Der IRIScan Desk Pro 7 Business kommt im Karton mit einigem Zubehör an. Neben dem eigentlichen Scanner, einer rund 36,5cm hohen schwarzen Säule mit eingebauter 24MP Kamera und Beleuchtung, kommt ein internationales Netzteil mit auswechselbaren Steckereinsätzen, ein USB-Verbindungskabel für den Computer sowie ein Hand- und ein Fußtaster zum Auslösen der Kamera mit der Verpackung mit.Der Scanner ist ideal, um z.B. komplette Bücher einzuscannen und diese später in ein E-Book-Format zu konvertieren, den Text per OCR-Software für eine Textverarbeitung bearbeitbar zu machen oder den Text in eine Sprachausgabe zu wandeln. Mit dem Gerät lassen sich Formate bis DIN-A3 einscannen.Der Aufbau des Scanners ist recht schnell erledigt. Hinstellen und die Verbindungs- und Stromkabel anschließen, schon ist die Hardwareseite erledigt. Während das USB-Verbindungskabel ausreichend lang ist, ist gerade die Stromversorgung in meinen Augen etwas zu kurz geraten. Fuß- und Handauslöser haben ausreichend lange Verbindungskabel.Bei der Software wird es schon etwas kniffliger. In der beiliegenden Bedienungsanleitung ist die Download-Adresse angegeben, hier wird man aufgefordert, das Produkt zu registrieren, also Name, Mailadresse, Land etc. werden abgefragt. Dann kann man die Grundsoftware sowie zwei Arten von TWAIN-Treibern downloaden. Nach der Installation wird man von der Software erneut zur Registrierung aufgefordert. Zusätzlich kann man noch eine Readiris PDF-Business Software downloaden, der Aktivierungscode ist hier auf dem Karton aufgedruckt. Allerdings ist es nur eine 365 Tage Software, deren Funktion man einem Jahr für zusätzliches Geld verlängern muß. Daher sollte man die Software nur aktivieren, wenn man diese unmittelbar benötigt!Die Software für den Betrieb und die Scanvorgänge ist recht übersichtlich aufgebaut, auch ohne langes Studium der Bedienungsanleitung findet man sich recht schnell zurecht. Die beiliegende Kurzanleitung wäre in dem Fall auch keine große Hilfe.Grundsätzlich kann man Bildscans (*.jpg) oder PDF-Scans erstellen. Die Handhabung beider Scanarten ist sehr einfach, zur Verbesserung der Scans sollte man als Unterlage die beiliegende schwarze Matte verwenden. Man legt ein Prospekt, Dokument oder Buch unter die Kamera, richtet die Mitte aus, die am Computer angezeigt wird und drückt den Hand- oder Fußauslöser, schon wird ein Bild geschossen und durch die Software verarbeitet. Auf diese Weise kann man auch größere Mengen an Vorlagen, z.B. ein komplettes Buch recht schnell in den Computer einscannen. Eine Nachbearbeitung und Einlesen der Texte mit einem OCR-Programm ist hier auch möglich, so das man die Texte später bearbeiten und neu formatieren kann.So weit so gut, die Scans sind von der Auflösung her sehr gut, in den Einstellungen lassen sich auch noch die Feinheiten einstellen, unter anderem z.B. Schwarzweiß-, Graustufen- oder Farbscans für die unterschiedlichen Vorlagen z.B. mit integrierten Grafiken oder Bildern. Für den Test habe ich zum einen die Bedienungsanleitung des Gerätes sowie den Text aus einem normalen Taschenbuch eingescannt. Die Finger die beim Festhalten der Buchseiten erkennbar sind, werden vom Programm versucht auszublenden, was aber nicht immer optimal gelingt. Das Prgramm lässt hierbei zu, das entweder die komplette Doppelseite, oder jede Seite getrennt abgespeichert wird.Bei der Bedienungsanleitung, die recht flach aufliegt wurden die Scans recht gut, bei der feinen Schrift kam der Scanner manchmal an seine Grenzen. Trotz gutem Ausgleich der Wölbung eines aufgeschlagenen Buches sind jedoch bei der Bedienungsanleitung sowie beim Taschenbuch immer wieder Verzerrungen der eingescannten Texte zu erkennen. Ich habe mehrere Dutzend Seiten eingescannt und immer darauf geachtet, das alle Scans gleichmäßig verlaufen, trotzdem konnte ich bei einer Seite Verzerrungen feststellen, während die nachfolgende Seite wieder einwandfrei dargestellt wurde. Eine Erklärung dafür habe ich nicht, vielleicht fehlt mir auch noch die Eingewöhnung an die ungewöhliche Scannerart und Handhabung. Jedenfalls müssen die Scans für die Weiterverarbeitung (OCR etc.) optimal sein, bei Verzerrungen streikt das Programm und man manuell korrigieren. Was bei wenigen Blättern eventuell noch praktikabel wäre, wird bei hunderten Buchseiten schnell zur unlösbaren Aufgabe.Bei einem Tag der offenen Tür In einem Archiv hatte ich mal gesehen, wie das professionell und im großen Stil gemacht wird, hier wurden die Bücher unter eine Glasplatte eingespannt und geplättet und dann eingescannt, das könnte man zwar auch zuhause mit einer Glasscheibe machen, aber bei einem dickeren Buch ist das auch ganz schön zeitaufwendig.Fazit:Ein hochwertiger Scanner mit guter Ausstattung und einer durchaus guten Scanqualität. Der IRIScan Desk Pro 7 Business ist trotz seiner Software kein Anfängerscanner. Gute Scans brauchen auch hier Zeit und die Software Muße zum Einarbeiten. Die Software will und soll Fehler wie leichte Wölbungen, Finger etc. ausgleichen bzw. ausblenden, das gelingt aber nicht immer optimal, was die Weiterverarbeitung erschwert. Hier sollte die Software dringend noch etwas verbessert werden, damit man gleichmäßige Ergebnisse erzielt. Der Preis von zur Zeit 499,-€ ist relativ. Für Privatanwender und Gelegenheitsanwender meist zu teuer, für Firmen, die regelmäßig Broschüren und Bücher einscannen und umwandeln oder archivieren wollen ist der Scanner eine günstige Lösung. Alles in Allem ist er mir auf jeden Fall gute 4 Sterne wert.
