It's a crank handle for a manual burr coffee mill. OMG, what can I say? It's a handle, it fits the mill properly, it's metal, it's shiny. Amazing!

I recently bought a very nice Japanese-made manual burr grinder coffee bean grinder at a Salvation Army thrift store, and the reason it was $2 is because there was no handle. With the 5-point grinder stud at the top, a standard hexagonal wrench socket would not work. The ONLY 5-point grinder replacement handle I found anywhere was this one, and for the cheap price and no other options, I figured it was safe bet.I won the bet. Granted, it was not a finely-machined equivalent to the high quality Japanese burr grinder; it's a simple stamped piece of metal with a plastic knob on one end. But it fits the grinder well enough, and it is certainly allows for a more dignified way to grind one's coffee beans than, say, using a cordless drill to spin the grinder.

I know in my heart that this handle will also need to be replaced eventually. While I appreciate that the simplicity of its design allows it to be replaceable, I can't help but think that not much would need to be changed for this to last longer. But those changes won't be made, and it will come to an ignoble end before I am ready for it, like all of my relationships.
