These pieces have one attachment point. And although you will slide forward over terrain, going backwards and they can snag on a boulder, bending them down, and creating an anchor.I blew out the u-joint on Holy Cross trail when I got pinned front and back between rocks (of the water crossing) I tried backing out of the situation. By some fluke, my Metal Cloak armor that was on my rear shock got caught on the rock, bending back the other way. 3 years of driving my Rubicon with stock armor... and then I go and buy this and it was just a cascade of terrible events. In trying to wiggle and power my way out of a 40 degree stream at 12,000 feet, I blew out a U-Joint and had to get a replacement. (How I got off the mountain, miles from cell service on a "7" trail, is a whole other saga). Naturally, the repair shop I was lucky enough to find in Colorado re-filled the differential up to the drain plug. The Metal Cloak front differential plate has a drain hole HIGHER than the factory plug. Then I get back off-road a week later into my wheeling vacation, only to see "4WD Needs Service" and a leaking front axle seal. Too much fluid blew out the seal. I kept it in 2WD and was happy to make it out of the mountains. Then had to re-fill the fluid several times to make it home. Now I'm waiting on a shop to fix the blown gasket.I'm sure Metal Cloak has made a lot of people happy, and protected their jewel of a ride. I just wish I were one.
