Injection molded plastic and a rolled stainless steel ruler. It’s great for just kicking around in my toolbox but it ain’t no machinist square.

I bought two squares 1 was the 8 inch one ,that one was great quality and built very well ,but the 12 inch square was not as well built its is very flimsy and arrives with a warp in it the quality was not there they seem that they were built in a different factory.

The whole reason I came to Amazon and did a search on Johnson Level & Tool L-square was because I have an older one that I am really impressed with and figured that I'd get another larger one from them. I don't remember when I purchased the older one, it's been that long, but the one I received today is definitely a cost-cut, make a bigger profit version of it. The older one is a really solid tool that's built to last, while the one I received today is nothing like it. The new one is so light that I'm afraid if I set it down it may float away. In the words of Randy Jackson on American Idol, that's a no for me dawg!
