I got this for my four-year-old little. His parents said that he had so much fun chipping away to get out all of the dinosaurs. It took him 3 days (they limited how many he could dig out to stretch out the experience). He already told me that he wants another one for his next birthday. He plays with the mini dinosaurs all the time along with his larger ones.

Great, very entertaining for kids, takes time to get dinosaurs out which is great for occupying kids for extended periods of time.

Messy, messy, and more messy. For an older, much more patient child. My 3 year old and I attempted this dino egg, but without soaking the entire thing in water and have it reduced back into clay…it was quite challenging to retrieve all the dinosaurs without her losing interest 1/4 the way through. By the end of it, you’ll just be mushing your hands through a giant clay ball trying to find these dang dinos and get it over with so your kid stops whining lol

This Jumbo Dino Egg Kit was a huge hit for my daughter's 5-year-old friend! He had a blast excavating the dinosaurs from the giant egg using the chisel, brush, and mallet. The whole experience is super hands-on and educational, and the colorful learning cards were a fun way to teach him about each dinosaur. It’s the perfect mix of science and play—definitely a must for any dino lover! Buying more for my girls!! Highly recommend!

I just bought this for my nephew's 5th birthday as he loves dinosaurs. The look of sheer excitement on his face as we prepared our excavation was 100% worth this purchase. As many others have warned and I failed to heed, this egg makes a HUGE mess, but it was an absolute blast as he chiseled each tiny dinosaur free from this egg and I carefully dusted away the remaining dirt. We continued for over an hour, in which he finally revealed his favorite dinosaur, the pterodactyl! 9 dinosaurs down, we finally stopped so he could save the rest for tomorrow to rescue with his dad. It was the best experience I have had so far with this little man and I will cherish it forever.I didn't read the instructions to notice that you could soak it in water to make it easier to get the dinosaurs out, but after I chiseled the first bits of egg away to reveal the first dinosaur, he wasted no time getting it out and moving on to the next. I personally feel it is a great activity to share and adds a good challenge to the experience.If you aren't a fan of having to clean up, then take it outside. We did this at the kitchen table on a disposable table clothe and anything that fell on the floor was easily vacuumed.

If you have a child that likes dinosaurs this is a great gift. If you are not afraid of a little mess, then this is a fun way to find dinosaurs. Lots of excitement and laughter. Tip: the longer you soak it the easier it is to break apart for younger kids. A spray bottle with water is also a fun way to help wash the dinosaurs.

Pros:The most important thing is that my 5 y/o enjoyed it and loved finding all the dinosaurs. She had a blast.Cons:-Extremely messy. I let my kid use whatever in the house, but if you don’t want to clean up a mess don’t get this. The mud/clay was spraying everywhere when she hit it with the tools. Everyone had it in their hair lol.- I don’t think she’d play with the little dinosaurs again, so it’s mostly single use I think.- My kid didn’t notice this or care, but all the 12 dinosaurs settled to one part of the egg so about 1/2 of the egg was left untouched (not demolished).Overall:My kid really enjoyed it and that’s the important part, but also shared my adult thoughts too.
