I've built a few kit guitars and most of the tuners in the low end kits are junk. These are a great alternative. They fit a LP knockoff neck just fine with no reaming necessary. Work smoothly. They are my first set of lockers that I've installed and seem to hold fine when locked. Build quality seems to be good, the finish is good as well, but not as nice as some name brand tuners at 2 - 3X the price.

Do NOT waste your time with these. The locking mechanism does clamp on the string, but there’s not enough torque on the tuner to even tighten the string to pitch. It stops when any real tension is applied. I want a refund. This is infuriating.

I'm a total noob when it comes to guitar lutherie but here goes.... These are fairly inexpensive ($40) when comparing to name brand locking tuners which are roughly twice as expensive. Locking tuners work by having a mechanism in them that clamps down on the string to prevent it form moving. The gearing in these feels pretty solid and but nit a smooth turning as the ones that are on my spendy guitars. I dont know if that is an indicator to quality or maybe it needs tension to feel right. The string clamp feels pretty tight also. I plan on tying to build a guitar so these will be great for that endeavor.
