I have written a lot of reviews, but I have never said this before--if I could give this a six star rating, I would!I bought this for a project guitar--a Squire Sonic Strat. The holes lined up nearly perfect (no plugging or drilling), but I did have to do a bit of sanding to get the neck to fit (which has been the case for every 'standard' pickup cover I've used).I plan to wire this with the Dan Armstrong blender mod, but thought I'd put them on an try things before I started soldering. I was shocked at how great they sound. I'm an electrical engineer and usually avoid the adjective descriptions in preference with real numbers, but these sound very full and rich. The closest thing I have that sound like this is a Gretsch. The bridge pickup has the jangle you'd expect and I find myself using the middle pickup the most. (With the stock pickups, I tended to use the bridge the most.)I have a set of GFS pickups I was planning to drop in to the final build, but these sound even better. I'm looking forward to seeing the sounds I can get out of them after the blender mod.I would highly recommend these and plan to buy another one to put to the side until the next project guitar comes along.

Tuve que lijar un poco la parte del puente por que mi guitarra es una squier bullet entonces no tiene tremolo. Igualmente tuve que soldar un cable más neutro para que no tenga tanta feedback, entre todo una excelente manera de mejorar tu strat.

This is a wonderful upgrade mod for my Donner DST-152R in Metalic Blue Ice.All screws lined up perfectly without needing any new holes drilled. I love the look, the sound. I also added a Fender TBX treble base expander. Thatbis why the one pot is white instead of matching the others. This was very east to install. Remove screws, loosen strings, loosen neck bolts. Desolder three wires. Resolder thee wires. Test. If you only hear a lot of noise and no guitar sounds unplug and change the two wires going to the output jack. They are probably reversed. This is an easy way to change the sound / look of your guitar. It doesn't have the push-pull pot. But with the SSS instead of SSH you don't really need it. The pickups are also an upgrade. You can always swap it back. Your guitar can grow with you.

Well worth it for an upgrade for a kit guitar. Makes it look, feel, and sound loads better.

Arrived quickly, super easy to install. The wires are tipped so you only have to heat it up and it will melt onto the contact. Compared to the original electronics, the pots have no noise when adjusting, the pickup switch is tight and crackle less. Added a Switchcraft output, tight and noiseless. The only reason for four stars out of five was the bottom cutout hole does not have wood under it for a screw. I fabricated and glued in a small piece of scrap wood that provided a support for the screw. This was put on my 1998 Fender Squier Strat which had fewer screw holes, easily drilled the extras.

I bought this as an "upgrade" to my 2000 Squire Affinity strat but I am not really convinced that its entirely what I got. The pickguard seems to be the only "upgrade" part of the item (for me). Its pearloid and 3 ply which is better than the single ply drab white pickguard that came on the squier. It has a really clean look and its a touch off bright white to give it a bit of a vintage look as its described. It is an 11 hole piece which I expected and replaced my 8 hole pickguard. Only 3 of the 11 holes lined up with the existing holes - no big deal. I prepared myself for this so I was already planning to have to drill the additional holes, I just had to fill some of the existing holes so the additional screws that didnt line up with the screw holes would go in straight. Again, no big deal and very happy with how the pickguard fits, feels, and looks. The electronics - this is where the rubber meets the road when in comes to what I ended up with versus what I replaced. I actually think the original squier electronics had a better sound than the Wilkinson pickups on this loaded pickguard. I cant be totally sure how much better because there were a couple weeks between taking the old pickguard off and putting the new one with the Wilkinsons on. One thing I know for sure is that the Wilkinsons are not better. Normally when you replace pickups, you are chasing a better or different sound. The Wilkinsons are just OK at best - adequate. The neck and middle pickup are decent but the bridge pickup is "tinny". "Twangy" is generally what you go for on a strat bridge pickup, but the Wilkinson is not that - it sounds thin and pitchy. I messed with the pickup height and the tone controls but I couldnt find any kind of sweet spot.A couple other issues for me - the volume/tone pots are the cheap, dime-size pots and they dont throw any discernable or subtle changes with slow adjustments. The squier pots I replaced were 500k full size pots. It feels like you go from one tone or volume level to the next without any kind of transition. The pickup covers and knobs feel cheap and look like they are smoke-stained. I know the description is "vintage white"; the pickguard is vintage white - the pickup covers and knobs are like a dirty yellow color. The pickup covers have the Wilkinson name and model on them which I thought was cool but in taking off the plastic, this "emblem" peeled right off of two of them - bummer. In conclusion, my experience was not "great value for the money" or "...only $40". I think I got exactly what I paid for, no more - no less. The pickguard is probably a $10 item, so I got $30 electronics for $30. Its not an upgrade from the original electronics so I will likely have to change out the pickups and the pots and be left with the pickguard. If you are looking for a quality sound and tone control experience, look somewhere else - this will not get you there. If you are replacing non-working parts on a cheap guitar or you are on a tight budget, this will be adequate.

Decided to upgrade the pickups on MIM squire strat I've had for awhile. Purchased the pearl Kaish loaded pickguard with standard strat pickups. This was really easy to install. Just make sure you install the white wire to the correct part of the output jack and the same with black. I forgot which was which when i unsoldered the wires. I installed backwards and go a bad buzzing. I looked up a video on installing a new output jack and saw my error. Unsoldered then soldered correctly plus soldered the ground. After that everything worked perfectly. I've never solder electrical parts before. It was really easy. I used a cheap less than $10 soldering pen. Only three parts to solder. Everything lined up perfectly as far as screw holes. For sound, I think it sounds amazing for the price. For me this is a great purchase and upgrade. I'm really happy with my purchase. Maybe there are better sounding pickups but it will cost $300 versus $45.
