This saw is easy to slip in your pocket and carry with no bulk. It is a Japanese made (Japanese style) pull saw. Because it's a pull saw, it is a thin blade that makes a thin kerf so its easier to use. Just remember that it could bend if pushed hard forward (so don't do that!). Works great for branches and saplings up to 2".

This is NOT a batteryless "Sawzall" It's designed for fine wood work, not construction demolition tasks. If you do not know what a PULL saw is. You may be disappointed. This PULL saw cuts only on the PULL stroke...get it...PULL saw. It is designed to cut WOOD, not plastic, drywall, metal, food....it's designed to cut WOOD. If you are used to a western (traditional) style hand saw which cuts on both the push AND the pull stroke you will become frustrated, thinking the blade is "flimsy" or "bends easy".To use this saw, open the blade until it locks. Start the cut by placing the handle against the wood, pushing down gentley and PULLING the saw toward you. Pretend you are cutting a pork chop with a steak knife. You dont need any more pressure than that. Then take the down pressure OFF the blade and push it back through the cut you just made. Again push down, PULL the saw towards you to continue the cut. That is why they call it a PULL saw.If you maintain down pressure and push, the blade will bend. Don't rush and don't force the saw. Let the blade do the work.

I'm shocked that this is the same brand I purchased previously. I can't find my saw so I bought this one for $5 less. You'd be wise to spend the e$5 and purchase this one instead. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071Y27L83/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1This saw doesn't come with a case. It is small. The blade is wiggly. When I open the blade, the grip area is so small my fingers end up on the cutting teeth. The blade doesn't lock down tight inside the handle when closed. It's just an unsafe tool. Spend the $20 and get the other excellent bamboo saw.

I use this saw for pruning Japanese maples, to do very delicate cuts in the tight spaces of neglected weeping Japanese maples, and where the branches are too big for my secateurs . Love the folding ability so I can put in a pocket. This is a Japanese pull saw, and the blade is thin to get into tight spots and the fine teeth to be able to let the saw do the work, not having to use so much force. You put the pressure when pulling and none with the push. It takes some getting use to. I prefer the swiftness of a Japanese saw. This is a saw for delicate work.

I actually bought this to be a thin kerf saw for bonsai work. It is a little fine toothed for green wood as it doesn't clean itself out well. The blade is quite thin and could be easily bent if the wood pinches. The lock mechanism works fine as far in concerned and it cuts quite clean. All in all a good value. Next time I'll order the thicker blade for my purposes.

I needed a small saw to cut and change the hole shape in small wooden birdhouses. After reading reviews for this type of saw, I decided on this one. The blade is the right size for what I need. But after using it the first time I was just a little disappointed. The handle doesn't seem all that sturdy so I don't know how much use it can take. The blade also flexes which makes it hard to keep a straight line. And when starting a cut in a tight space, it can be difficult to start the groove. It will still be handy for other things but I think it's too expensive for what it is.

Grabbed one of these to trim my bonsai and other houseplants. Loved it so much that I got a second one for my woodworking projects in the garage. It is incredibly sharp and cuts very quickly. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the blade doesn't lock in the closed position, so it easily opens even when you don't want it too. I threw a rubber band around mine to keep it shut when not in use.

Saw is very sharp and precise. I’ve got it in my tool pouch for cutting gang holes in walls for wires. Blade is a bit flimsy so I suggest making starter holes with a screw driver although I haven’t Brent or broken the blade yet! I would definitely get this again though.
