I liked the ukulele, its looks and its sound. However the one that I received had a defect on the bridge: the lower left corner was not fully glued to the top. Unfortunately I had to return it.

This is a gorgeous ukulele - it has a beautiful warm sound and it looks great! The ebony fretboard is very smooth to play. And it is a steal at this price. I have three ukes, and this is the only one I want to play.As a side note, the way this ukulele was packaged leaves much to be desired. It was literally just placed in a box with no padding. In fact, when I was initially sent this ukulele, the neck was broken in two. However, the seller was very responsive - I was able to return this uke, and I was sent a replacement promptly without any hassle. The second ukulele arrived in surprisingly perfect condition in spite of the poor packing (this one arrived not only with no padding, but with only one end of the box taped shut - it is a miracle the uke did not slip out of the box during shipping). If you want to save yourself the heartbreak of being sent such a beautiful instrument in a potentially unplayable state, you may wish to order elsewhere or pick up this beauty from your favorite local shop in person.I am still giving this product 5 stars because it ultimately had a happy ending.

Very good instrument but possibly poor quality control.I bought 1 of these ukes from amazon and it came with major problems. The neck was bowed badly and bridge had gaps i the glue.Returned it and got another one, same thing. Less bad but still very bad. Returned it again.I ended up buying the same model from a different website and the seller checked it before shipping and did a setup and it was finally ok.Maybe it was due to poor warehouse conditions that the first 2 were messed up or maybe it was bad quality control I don’t know. Before that I had another kala uke that was great so it’s hard to tell.About the uke itself:It’s a very near little thing. Craftsmanship is very decent for the price range. Some parts look much more expensive than what it is, but some things look kinda cheap too.It’s probably gonna need a professional setup before it’s really nice and all. The frets are not very polished and the bridge was very high when I got mine.The tone is really nice. It’s mid forward as you’d expect from a smaller body uke but it’s also warm and has character.The intonation on all of the 3 units I got wasn’t great. It’s good enough but sometimes depending on the chord it’ll sound very dissonant.This is my first Concert size uke so I’m assuming it could be one of the factors for that, since smaller scale tend to have more intonation issues. But maybe it’s because it’s not a very high end instrument too.Also the satin finish looks really great but sometimes it bothers me because it’s really noisy if you rub agains it while playing. If you plan to record something with it keep in mind that you’ll have to be aware of that and not move around too much.All in all it was a decent buy. I kept mine. If I had the chance to go back I’d probably go to a store and test some ukes and buy the one I liked best instead of going online.
