This is a consumer grade Ukulele with nice sound for the price. Hit up the Kala website to see what features this uke has compared with their others. Of course, it is made in China. It would probably be better to just buy a nicer ukulele, and buy a separate case and tuner. As other reviews have stated, the tuner isn't quality.

The uke arrived promptly, and it was securely packed. All accessories were there, as stated. The uke is beautiful, and seems to be well made. I tuned it a lot the first night, but found it stayed in tune better with only minimal adjusting the 2nd day. My only complaint was that it didn't have the rich and resonant tone that I had hoped for. That could be my playing, as I can't get the tone I hoped for on my Donner soprano! My teacher gives me relaxation exercises, and we work a lot on holding position, which may be my problem. I can get all the chords at least! This is only my 2nd uke, and I love it!

Die Lieferung erfolgte sehr schnell. Das Instrument und die im Lieferumfang enthaltenen Beigaben entsprachen der Beschreibung, es war alles dabei. Die Ukulele hat einen sehr schönen warmen Klang, keine störenden scharfen Kanten, lässt sich sehr gut Stimmen und nach einigen Tagen musste ich sie auch nicht mehr ständig nachstimmen. Sicherlich gibt es noch hochwertigere und teurere Instrumente, aber zum Anfangen ist sie sehr gut, da sie wie gesagt einen sehr schönen Klang hat.

Beautifully made in Italy. Great price for such a quality product. Easy to tune. Bought for my 12 year grandson and has been able to teach himself to play. This was recommended by his school music teacher.

Great uke.The colours are not the same as in the photo: the back and sides are the mahogany colour, as in the picture, but the top is a very similar colour to the neck and headstock illustrated.Almost a colour negative of the illustrated uke.The bridge looks like a dark oak, the fingerboard looks like the classic dark rosewood finish.A very handsome looking instrument.Understated, quality.A bonus I had not expected were the Graphtec nubone XB nut and saddle.Very welcome surprise.The uke is very playable straight out of the box, after stretching in the strings.The action is quite acceptable as is, the frets are pleasant, no rough edges to be smoothed off, but I chose to sand down the saddle by about 2mm to speed up the action.Pretty much par for the course, in this sector of the market but no hardship.The saddle is easy to slide out of the bridge when the tension is released from the strings.I added a couple of applications of natural beezwax polish to nourish, seal and bring out the beauty of the fretboard and the bridge. Neither of which appear to have any kind of sealant applied to them as supplied.Superb clear sustain, great harmonics at the 7th & 12th frets and ok at the 5th. 14 frets to the body, 2 more than on some other concert ukes.18 frets but above 14 more for show than for music making.My personal preference, as a guitar player of old, is for Worth brown low G medium strings.These change the sound from a very 'ukuleke' sound to imo a more rounded richer 'musical' spectrum, more suited to picking, if that is your preference too.I reckon they look good too.The tuning pegs are open back, feel well made. With the strings settled in, tuning is comfortable, positive and I found will stay in tune.A quick application of HB lead pencil to the nut for lubrication, belt & braces stuff, I have a habit of doing, only helps in that respectA big bonus for musicians of any level, but maybe more so to the novice.The Kala branded strap, tuner, and gig bag are good quality and do not disappoint.I bought this as a gift for my Godson, but have been enjoying setting up for him, and playing it myself. I'd be happy to hang onto it.

Our grandson loves the Kala uke. It was recommended by a luthier friend. We are very please that we purchased it. It came safely packaged and was delivered slightly ahead of the promised date. Of course it will take a few months to know if the unit is really well put together but now, after a couple of weeks, it looks great!

*capo and tuner in the photo are NOT included in this purchase* I originally ordered a concert size then they sent me a Tenor because the concert sold out. I didn't make a huge problem out of it. My first ukulele and it's been a pleasure learning a new instrument. The colour turned out much darker than I saw in the photo so I wasn't happy then later started to like it more. Since it's tenor the sound is very deep and closer to acoustic guitar.
