Review for Kasyou Studio Colored Carp Crystal Glass sake cup (Kanazawa Gold Foil, Gift Box), Made in Japan jaThis is a gorgeous beautiful small glass. It doesn't have to be just for sake, I am pretty sure it will make a lovely liqueur glass, or scotch glass. The gold color reflects through the entire small glass and gives it a lovely glow. The carp painting on the bottom is well done, and the gold leaf backs it. The cup is surprisingly heavy for its size. The glass is butter smooth. It is a quality made piece and it shows.I have nothing negative to say about this, except possibly the price. Everyone has to judge for themselves what a beautiful piece like this is worth - are you going to sit in an a cupboard to look at, or are you going to use it and appreciate it on a regular basis?

This sake cup is about as nice as you could want. The texture and weight feel good to hold; it's light, but not too light and the rippled texture on the outside provides decent grip. It certainly doesn't feel like a shot glass, which less expensive sake services can. The glass isn't thin enough it feels like you'll break it just by holding it, but is thin enough at the rim that it's very easy to sip from without a little running past (as I find can happen with the ceramic sake services that tend to be thicker.) Neither hot or cold sake are an issue; both are comfortable to hold. The glass does a good job at insulating temperatures against your fingers. The design is vibrant and clear to view with or without sake in the cup. As the listing states, the gold foil does give a little bit of a 'golden' effect when full but not distractingly so. The tan paint/lacquer on the bottom should be an effective seal for the long haul if treated with care; I'm a dishwasher adherent normally but no way would I ever put this in there. It arrived securely packaged in the gift box which provides a nice presentation if giving as a gift.
