Your cart is empty.KCS pearl shiny metallic thread is a divisible, six-strand glistening thread that will add a twinkle and special touches to your handmade. It has a pearl shine on its surface. This 100% polyester thread is colorfast and tarnish resistant.Each pack consists of six skeins. The thread consists of six size 25 easily separated strands. Use it on its own or combine it with a strand of cotton floss for a touch of sparkle. Metallic thread is for experienced embroiderers only, as it's a lot more difficult to work with than cotton.For the best stitching , work with a shorter length of thread (try 12 inches). This will help keep the fibers fresh and prevent fraying. If the thread becomes twisted while stitching, drop the needle and let it unwind itself.

I wanted to add a little sparkle to the embroidery I was making my granddaughter. However, this didnt work for me. The thread was to stiff and didnt form to the embroidery stitches. I was also hand embroidering so I am not sure if it works better for embroidery machines.Otherwise, the thread was pretty and just like the pictures. I just could not use it.

I thought the skeins would be rubbish when I got them, because they are a little wirey. However practice,and you'll be fine. I would recommend these, using a single thread over a bumble bees wings brings a more realistic finish. Price is good. The variegated skeins are fabulous. They do sell out quite quickly, my advice, see them and get some, I will definitely buy again.

I don’t think you can blame the manufacturer for how difficult it is to work with metallic thread. It’s just the nature of what the item is made of. The result, however, is stunning on a finished embroidery piece. You just have to have lots of patience and realize that metallics are not as easy to use as regular threads.
