we bought this thinking by the description it would be an upgrade from what we had already purchased before at $175. This was the furthest from the truth. It did not last 1 day and burnt up. It also did not have a freewheeling option which i did not catch when purchased. We went back and bought the $175 unit again with warranty and is rolling good.

I needed a winch that I could attach to a tree (used the WARN Remote mounting plate and a tow strap) and winch in 2 boat lifts from our lake onto the shore. This is a heavy dragging situation where you're using the winch to drag these lifts across the lake bottom and up onto the shore. I'm writing this review specificially to say it worked really well for that and had enough power to do it. Super happy with it in general.

I use this winch to pull my marine equipment (sailboat, dock, etc.) up a ramp into a marine storage hut. With its 1500 lb pulling capacity, it needs to be well secured to the storage hut back wall. One needs to always keep a good pulling force on the cable when winding it in; this ensures the cable to wind correctly on the drum. The winch works well and meets my expectations.

Replaced a hydraulic winch on a grain conveyor with this electric one. Works great, have not had any issues.Update (1):- The remote crapped out and we had to replace it which allowed to continue working for a while.Update (2):- It died basically. Would not recommend.Update (3):- Got send a 'free' motor replacement for the winch. Just had to pay all of the shipping/import.
